An Evening W/Edgar Allen Poe Transfer?

This is part of the MGM Midnite double feature with Tomb of Ligiea.

I know that it was a made for TV special but man, could they have cleaned up the transfer even a little bit?

I've seen other older "live" television DVD transfers like "Dark Shadows" and they look much better than what was presented on this disc. Ligiea looks great but the evening with Edgar Allen Poe is a wash...literally. Anyone else have a problem with this?

It is pretty bad.
I saw this on TV a few years back (AMC?), and don't remember it looking like this. I'm not sure what happened.
I wish I had taped it back then so I could compare the two.

The DVD version was taken from a 16mm source, while the program originated on videotape. What's strange is that the version run on AMC and Sci-Fi in recent years was the videotape version, with much better picture quality. I recorded it on DVD from AMC last year and in comparing it to the MGM disc the AMC recording looks far better.

Odd! I was less than impressed with the quality as well! I too, remember the AMC version being better quality.

Come on MGM, Vincent Price fans deserve better! :mad:
