For FF Tactics and Tactics Ogre fans...Disgaea PS2!

All of the reviews for this game are phenomenal. I picked it up last night, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. It seems to be in short supply so don't expect it to be around very long. I'll post some impressions once I get a chance to play.

It's from Atlus RPG + Atlus - do whatever you need to do to obtain it

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Publisher: Atlus Software
Developer: Nippon Ichi Software

Which means it's probably a good game, but a little too "stock anime"..

I dont' know about that, allt he reviews described the stroyline as being quite unique and irreverent.

I'll probably be picking this up later this week because I also see it being in short supply. Can't play it until I beat Silent Hill 3, and FFTA when it comes out though.

Short supply?

Atlus....hmmm. Oh yeah, thats why Skygunner, GitarooMan and Yanya Callibasta (sp?) can be found everywhere for 15 dollars now.

OgreTactics for the GBA isn't too hard to find either these days.

...Kinda like ChronoTrigger for the SNES back then....

gitaroo man and yanya callista aren't Atlus games

Find Ogre Tactics or Orge Battle for PS1, both from Atlus, in new sealed condition. If you do, they're worth easily 80-90 dollars!

I've been playing the game for 9 hours now and it is a really great game. The story so far is a little kiddie and they try to make it funny alot but it really hasn't hurt the game. I'm actually starting to like the way they are telling the story. Game play is just like FFT with different job classes and how they attack except one thing, you can combo attack too. Sort of like Dynasty Tactics if you've ever played that. It really does add alot of strategy to the game though. Oh, you can also pick up and toss your characters or enemies to get you to spots you cant reach or in to battle, or to remove a player from harm or an enemy from battle. Sound complicated but its not. If any one is a fan of Strategy RPG's I would highly recommend getting this game.

Just some quick impressions...

I've never played this style of game before, but it reminds me alot of Advance Wars. There is a tutorial to walk you through the basics of combat, and you can go back and play in levels you've completed before to level up characters. If anyone has any individual questions I'll be glad to answer them, but I'd definitely call this game a must buy!

Just got the game a few days ago. Fun little game, your new name is mid boss, had me laughing. Ok you had to be there.

This game is loaded with options and details. There is item world, where you go into items and fight people that live in the item. There is the dark assembly that is used to pass laws, upgrade your crew, buy new crew members, force your will on voters to make them do what you want. Then there is this geo thingy that gives special status when you stand on them. Its a lot to take in. You can ignore most of this stuff but if you want the best stuff and full crew you have to play around with these things.

The worst thing by far is the graphics. I've seen ps1 games with better graphics. I have no idea what they are thinking with releasing a game that looks this dated. However, this doesn't bother me at all it just confuses me on why. FFT and Vandal Hearts look just as good and maybe better and look how old those games are.

Game play is great. So far I have been getting my but handy to me when not thinking things through. Oh yeah item world can be a pain in the but. Work your way down to level 8 then get some kind of insane geo panel setup that makes it a nightmare to finish.

I wouldn't say they're dated, remember these are 2d graphics, not 3d. Also they definitely better than anything on the ps1. FFT was no comparison. Maybe you should boot it up just to check .

Of course like any game, the character styles may or may not appeal to you. The disgaea char styles are certainly a bit out there.

Yeah and the game rocks .
