Reason for ED WOOD being delayed?

ED WOOD
There still isn't any news of when we can expect Tim Burton's fantastic Ed Wood to hit DVD, but there now may be some explanation on why the disc was delayed after it was originally announced. While rootin' around Buena Vista's online database, I discovered that the disc has now been re-labeled Ed Wood: DVD Director's Cut. The only other information accompanying it is a film synopsis, cast & crew listing and a UPC code (786936212501, in case you wanted to know). Run time is also listed at the current version's 127 minutes, but that might be incorrect if a director's cut is indeed being assembled. Rest assured that we will keep tabs on this release in the coming months.

I might be willing to put up with this huge wait if it ends up becoming a better movie through some director's cut. Who knows though, sounds sketchy if R2 was released in a decent version and I certainly haven't heard of this before elsewhere..

I really doubt it is anything of sorts. It seems awful funny that they went through the trouble of pressing and shipping out the R1 versions and then having them all sent back, just so they could release a better version.
I'm goin' to go ahead and get the R2 version which is pretty good itself.

I had heard the Ed Wood DVD being referred to as the 'Director's Cut' in the past. It sparked a debate at one point because the running time was the same, and as far as anyone knew Burton released the cut theatrically that he wanted. In other words, there was no such thing anyone could think of. I don't think this trip into BV's database proves much of anything, other than at some point someone added the 'DC' to it in there.
If they actually release this DVD one day I have no doubt it's going to be the same discs they shipped and recalled and that are now sitting in storage.
