Any other Fat Possum addicts here?

Since I first picked up Junior Kimbrough's All Night Long back in 1994 I have been addicted to the Fat Possum label. Great "dirty" blues stuff, and IMO the best blues out there.

Some other favorites inlclude:

Cedell Davis - The Horror of it All
R.L. Burnside - Too Bad Jim
Asie Payton - Worried
T-Model Ford - She Ain't None o' Your'n
Johnny Farmer - Wrong Doers Repect Me
Elmo Williams & Hezekiah Early - It Takes One to Know One

If you like the blues, check 'em out.

I picked up R.L Burnside's "A Ass Pocket O' Whiskey" last week. I haven't listened to it yet, although my older brother had it when it first came out so I'm sure I've heard it anyways.

I also have Solomon Burke's "Don't Give Up On Me" if that counts.

What'd you think of the Solomon Burke disc? I was thinking about getting it...

The "A Ass Pocket of Whiskey" album is pretty good, but it gets a little old hearing Spencer trying to hang with Burnside. I like it, but it feels a little stilted in parts, like Spencer is trying too hard or something. Fun album, though. If you like that, pick up Burnside's "Mr. Wizard" - it's the most raw of his Spencer-free releases. Great stuff.

The Burke album is very good. It's hard to give an opinion since it's the only thing of its genre I own (just branching out a bit more than the usual indie/electronic stuff). The standout songs to me are the ones written by Tom Waits, Joe Henry and the Elvis Costello one, but there's really not a weak track on there.

RIP R.L. I was a pretty big fan. Saw him live in 1998 and 2001. He was still putting on kick ass shows.

I really like some Fat Possum stuff too. I was thrilled the other day when I walked into this used record shop in my small town in TN of all places and found Cedell Davis - The Horror of it All on Vinyl for $4. Unique guitar sound is an understatement. Junior is great too.
