Eddie Murphy Delirious & Raw DVD

Does anyone know if they are any plans to release Delirious or Raw on DVD anytime soon.

Thanks.

Raw was just on HDNet Movies on DiercTv on Saturday, so they do have a 16x9 HD master for it now. The sound was 5.1 but sounded stereo- the left & rights were louder than the center & no rears I could hear. The print looked very nice, but slightly grainy. After Hours was on in HD next & looked incredible.

For some reason I don't see either movie getting released any time soon (though I hope I'm wrong). With Murphy's new family image, the really Un-PC (and sometimes downright offensive) material in those films would probably keep him from doing too many more Disney films. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though.

I have the RAW VHS. I'd love to upgrade it.

Ummm 5.1?

What a waste!!!

Everything does not have to be 5.1...& stand-up comedy concerts are one of them!

I don't think that Eddie's concerned about his new family image; I'm not trying to slam him 'cuz I love his work, but I think he's got the "new image" based on the dollar signs. He hasn't had a funny, bankable rated R hit in years. When he does the kid stuff, he scores.

Surely, these 2 DVD's if released would score him a bigger payday than that *^&(#@ Eddie Murphy DVD pack (Bowfinger/Life/Nutty Professor 1 &2 ) that's on the streets.

If the studois would only pay attention...

I doubt the Delirious will ever come out on dvd - It is far too "politically inccorect" for these times.

I personally don't have a problem with it (I almost know his whole routine by heart), but I'm sure a lot of "minority groups" would - not to mention Eddie, himself.

Then why are Mel Brooks movies OK to sell? Look at Blazing Saddles.

It's the way the jokes are presented. I've never seen Raw, but the 'Faggots' routine in [/i]Delerious[/i] is intensely meanspirited. This routine reminds me of some bully pointing a finger in the schoolyard, and everyone joins in the mockery. I found that to be one of the ugliest things I have every seen in a movie. I understand Murphy was really young when he was doing those gay stand up jokes. If he is ashamed of that, he should be.

Even still, I see no reason why this shouldn't be released. The last half of that concert was absolutely brillant.

Dude...really, it's comedy. It's a standup routine. Why be ashamed of it?

Even in these PC times that we live in you have to realize that these are two of the funniest stand up movies around. Not all minorities are offended by the material in these acts. It's comedy gold. I would gladly trade my VHS copies of these in a heartbeat.

Murphy has since apologized for some of the jokes in those two films.

I'm gay and don't find myself terribly offended by them. Murphy was a young and arrogant SOB back then. I'm glad he's matured though.

Mel Brooks does satire which is slightly different from what Eddie was going for (I'm guessing). I would really like these two films on DVD but they, like a ton of other films, just don't age well. He's apologized and that's cool. Personally, I just wish he'd run away from Disney and do some more adult oriented films and stand-up.

I wasn't saying I wanted it in 5.1. They were showing it in 5.1 & 16x9 HD. I must correct myself though- I had my surround turned off & just saw it again with it on & the 5.1 was actually pretty decent. His voice was center obviously, but the rears were fairly active with laughter & crowd noise. Not necessary, but adds to the atmosphere.
