I'm really surprised this one hasn't been released. .. How many seasons was there?

You're not the only one... the first seasons of that show were great. I have no idea who owns it and what they're gonna do with it though :\
Anybody for John Goodman commentaries? Yes!

As much as I love Roseanne, I'm not sure I'd want to buy it on DVD. Collecting the whole series would be quite expensive, and I'm not sure the rewatch value would be that huge (even if it has been a while since it finished, and I haven't watched it much since then...)
9 seasons, by the way.

I'd like to have Season sets of "Roseanne" also - I've always enjoyed this show. I watch the re-runs on TBS regularly, so re-play value would be high (for me at least).
According to the Imdb, the companies involved with the show are ABC, Carsey-Werner and Viacom. I'm not sure if any of these companies have released any kind of dvd's so far. ABC aired the show, Carsey-Werner produced it and I think Viacom is probably involved in the syndication (could be wrong about this). Anyone know if any of these are owned by a larger entity, like Columbia or Paramount, etc.?

I have no interest in seasons sets of this show. The first 2 or 3 seasons were good but then Roseanne's ego became to big and it effected the show. As the seasons roll on there are a lot of inconsistencies with the characters. And that whole last season was a joke.

IMHO, season 9 of Roseanne had its moments, but it wasn't sure what it was trying to be, and it was hurt by John Goodman taking loads of time off, and several other episodes featuring only Roseanne and Laurie Metcalf of the main cast. The last episode was good (and the ending was interesting even if it was a bit of a cliche).

The show remained great up until, I suppose, the new Becky was introduced. This is not to bash the new actress replacing the old Becky, as I feel she was, in some ways, better...but this was also around the time when Laurie Metcalf (Jackie) stopped acting and started overacting. Every line she delivered lacked any "real" ability and sounded "melodramatic." Like she forgot how to act. I don't know about the behind-the-scenes tensions, and perhaps Metcalf did this on purpose because she wanted out but couldn't get out of her contract.
But, yeah...once the "natural" performances ceased, I became disinterested. However, the first five or six seasons were excellent!

My guess is that Viacom still has the rights to the show. Viacom is a parent company that owns Paramount and half the stations on cable, as well as just about every other media outlet in this country that isn't controlled by Rupert Murdoch.

I've never been a Roseanne fan. I thought John Goodman was good as Dan, but that for me was about the only watchable part of the show. If there were seasons released on dvd you can count me out.

I watch it every afternoon on TBS. There's usually 2 episodes back to back sometime in the early afternoon around 1:00 or 2:00. Might help hold you over until a DVD release. Just get yout some blank VHSs and you can at least have copies of some of them.
