Woody Allen's Anything Else

I'm a big fan of Woody Allen's, and saw the trailer for his new movie, Anything Else, before le Divorce.

I thought it looked pretty solid. Christina Ricci's one of my favorites.

I haven't seen the trailer yet, but Jason Biggs? Hmm.

I can see Biggs acting as the character Allen himself plays in every one of his films. And I'm glad Allen cast someone else in the major role - I was tired of seeing him romancing the cast of 'Saved by the Bell.'

I just watched the trailer. Looks like it has potential, although they are trying to sell it as a teen comedy and downplay the Woody Allen factor.

From what I read in some preview magazines, Allen is the lead, which suprised me when I saw the trailer early, I think theyre tryign to sell this movie to a different demographic, probably in a bid to raise Allen's box office receipts.

Well, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Allen has never really tried to "raise his box office receipts". One of the reasons I respect him as much as I do. Although, you never know what the studio may be up to.

I hope it's better than Hollywood Ending, which is probably the most disappointing of all Allen's recent films to me. Heck, I even got grins from "Curse Of The Jade Scorpion," but "Hollywood Ending" seemed like some third-rate imitation of a Woody pic instead of the real thing.

For a long time, Allen wouldn't allow trailers to be made for his films. Stuff like this is probably why.

Interesting factoid: this will be Jimmy Fallon's first film appearance since Almost Famous.

I don't have much hope for it considering the last few films he has made.

But...
It's still woody. And I will see it opening weekend.

I agree. I really enjoyed Curse of the Jade Scorpion, but Hollywood Ending was really disappointing.

I got Hollywood Ending on Netflix this weekend and watched it. Not the best Woody Allen, but still it was okay. Tea Leoni was good.

I'm expecting Anthing Else to be much better.

According the imdb, Robert Downey Jr and Winona Ryder, two convicted criminals, were originally slated to star in this movie. It must have taken an act of God to re-cast this one!

No, I think the Robert Downey Jr./Winona Ryder potential casting is for his next movie. At least that's what I read on Coming Soon.
