Il Mare dvd and region question
I was planning on ordering the Il Mare dvd and looked on DVDAsian to check it out. They have 3 versions on the site.
For those that own it, which version do you recommend. Regions won't affect my decision, I'll be picking up the Toshiba 3900 sometime this month. Does any know of any sites that has comparisons of different versions of dvds?
I also have a question about region 3 dvds. Do you find that alot of them are actually region 0? Are there alot, if any, Korean dvds like that? Every time I search on Ebay for international dvds, they list them as region 0. Are these bootlegs or region 3 dvds that are actually 0?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

The Shochiku r2j is by far the best version of Il Mare (film-sourced and anamorphic) but unfortunately for English speakers it has no English subtitles.
I have the r2j and the Spectrum r3k (#1 on your post) is nowhere near as good as the Shochiku release. The Edko r3hk (#2 on your post) looks similar to the r3k but has a higher bitrate so it should theoretically suffer less from compression artifacts (there are plenty of block bursts in the r3k), but I cannot positively confirm this for you. I wouldn't bother with disc #3 - it's from Tai Seng and that almost always equals bad news. Good luck with your purchase. Good movie no matter which release you go with.
BTW, EnterOne discs have a tendency to be all-region even though they are labeled r3k. Spectrum has a reptuation for hard coding the region... it all depends really and it goes on a case by case basis.

The HK release is supposed to have much better English subs compared to the Korean release.
