Ad Advisory - LOTR

All,

Just a heads up. We're running a Lord of the Rings Two Towers ad campaing.

There are Flash banners on the site as well as a rich media placement on the front page which you should only get 1x per 24 hours.

Please post any technical issues you may have with the ads. When posting a technical issue, please list the version of your OS, your browser and browser version as well as where you got the error.

Thanks
Geoff

Those banners keep bringing up a box making me acknowledge that my security settings don't allow ActiveX controls to run. Duh.

So I have to hit the OK button or my spacebar about every other page.

I got it in video game talk. Is the rest of the forums saved again?

It may be set to show up a little too high on the srceen. when it poped up, it was cut in half by the banner on the top of the screen. I'll tell you if it does that every time, or just that once.

Well. the ad is kind of pretty. Still am waiting for the EE. Forum seems to be a bit slower though.

Aside from the fact that it loads very slowly, it disabled the forum jump on the front page until I closed it.

how many of those who claimed they would never support a movie with ads like these last time are gonna buy this movie?

Honestly, this one isn't nearly as bad as many that have run in the past.

It has no sound, little animation and is easy to close. Also impression capping is a 1x per 24 hours. So it's far less intrusive than any of the previous ones.

I'm no fan of intrusive ads, but this one really isn't that big of a deal.

Just got it again on the front page for my 2nd straight visit, again disabling the forum jump. I'm logged in, and have cookies on.

On a related note, I'm also getting the subscribe to DVDTalk newsletters pop-up, which I never get (I'm already subscribed to just about all of them).

I'm not. Won't buy it, won't rent it, didn't see it in the theater. Who wants to touch me?

If this ad is as obnoxious and intrusive as the FearDotCom and Final Destination 2 ads, I won't buy it, even though I love the movie. And this time I'll write to the studio and tell them why. I'll have to wait to see the ad before I decide.

My problem is not the ad itself -- relatively benign -- it is that every 2nd or 3rd time I go to www.dvd.talk, it does not load up the forum jump, or it will freeze up everything. I can hit F5 and refresh and usually I'm OK... but I'm on fast internet. God help those poor souls out there is dialup land.

What a great ad to run in this forum. Nobody is aware that this DVD is coming out.

Most people are pretty keenly aware that Coke and Pepsi, which have both existed for over a century, are still on store shelves, yet both of those companies continue to advertise.

I haven't seen it once yet.

That means I can still buy it! Yay!
