What hapened to Goodfellas: SE???

For the longest time, it was slated for either September or October 12, and it was reportedly in the late stages of production in the spring(Henry Hill was quoted as having just recorded the commentary back then) but now it seems not to be even a blip on the radar. I thought for sure it'd be out for the holidays, but now it seems to be MIA. Any word on this one?(and post police, I do apologize, I searched and did the FAQ thing and it was devoid of Goodfellamation)

I'm sure that it'll be out before Christmas. Especially since it's "ugly cousin" Scarface is finally coming.

It should become official soon. I think I'm finally going to give in and get the old version at Columbia House, so that should guarantee it.

If you get the old version through CH, at least you are paying less than $8.00 for it and can sell it on Ebay for at least that much when the time comes.

You might could double or triple the value if you describe it as an "OOP double-sided original!" "Own Goodfellas as it was FIRST seen on DVD!"

Or not...I can't wait for this SE. I never re-bought the original after mine got stolen. Now, if WB will get to work on an SE for Sleepers I'll be happy...

Tis true, there's been not a peep about this dvd in a long time. I'm pretty sure Amazon hasn't even set a date, so what's the deal? Bump this, shall we......

I also have been wondering what happened to the "Goodfellas" SE

I thought I read somewhere (possibly here) that it was also supposed to be part of a Scorsese Box Set. Other rumored titles in the set were, I think, "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" (finally!) and a very early De Niro starrer titled, I believe, "Greetings." Although I'm not completely positive on those last two titles. But I know I did read a Box Set was to be released before the holidays.

What are you smokin'? "Scarface" was a mess. If not for Pacino's overly flamboyant performance and the over-the-top violence, the picture would be a dull, unwatchable, pretentious piece of garbage. Pacino saves it from being "Mystery Science Theater 3000" material.

"Goodfellas" was a brilliant film. Next to "The Godfather" I & II, I believe it's the greatest gangster/crime film ever made.

All's I gotta say about "Scarface" is...

A Scorcese box set could very well be in the works, but I don't think Greetings would be included, since I'm pretty confident it was directed by Brian DePalma.

Back on topic - Warner seems to have slipped on their SE's they announced, since The Outsiders is long overdue as well.

Seems to me that you are biased against Cocaine mob movies.
This movie is the most thrilling, revolting, surprsing, and gruesome gangster movie EVER MADE. And unlike Goodfellas, which was taken straight from the book with 0 originality, Scarface is 100% original. Goodfellas was a good movie, but in all honesty, Goodfellas is subpar Scarface.

Seems to me that you're biased against movies whose screenplays are adapted from another source.

How is Goodfellas not a "cocaine mobster movie". Did you watch the last half hour? Probably the most realistic depiction of cocaine paranoia ever on film. Meanwhile Pacino snorts comically lethal amounts of blow while screaming about his "little friend".

I'd rather a Soprano's episode than Scarface.

I recall reading that After Hours would be in that triple-pack with Goodfellas. Of course, this was several decades ago, when rumours were just starting to surface about the infamous Goodfellas SE, but just the same, it's about time After Hours got a DVD release

Re: Scarface and Goodfellas

I love them both. Goodfellas is better, but I love them both.

I think your wrong, now pull your panties our of your @$$ and move along.

Scarface had a totally original screenplay, and the main IDEA was taken from Howard Hanks Scarface. That's a real far cry from making a movie straight out of the book. When will you babies learn? I should slap you all for making such a ridiculous comment.
