I'm not exactly what the term for this effect is, but I'm sure you've seen it. A person is cut with an ultra sharp object, looks normal for a few moments, and then falls apart into 2 or more pieces. 99% of the time the effect comes off as looking very cheesy.
Here are the movies I can remember off the top of my head (MILD SPOILERS):
Equilibrium (face sliced off with sword)
Final Destination 2 (barbed wire)
Resident Evil (laser grid)
Johnny Mnemonic (laser whip)
No Escape ("Now that's funny!")
Interview with the Vampire (I think I remember a scythe?)
Cube (I think, it's been a while)
Any others?

That one has to be the king of all the body slice scenes. Very well done.
I've always liked this effect, and it's been around for quite a while. It seems like after Ghost Ship it's being done more and more though.

Second for thinking the Ghost Ship scene as disturbing but very well done.
I think the Resident Evil scene was also very effective.

Blade II - Rienhardt's death
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - Meyer Link is sliced down the middle. He falls to the floor and one part slides a bit. Then he pulls himself back together!
Happens a lot with vampires, I see. Garlic, Stakes, daylight, delayed body slice effects.

Hilarious thread! I like it.
Which films did the "delayed body slice effect" without using digital effect?

I think the Resident Evil was one of the best ones. Ghost Ship was a bit over the top and unbelievably unrealistic. 13 Ghosts had an interesting one.

I know Daffy Duck suffered this at least once. "Good thing I have Blue Crossth!"
In Texas chainsaw Massacre II there was a scene where a passenger in a moving car looked at the driver, and part of his head slid off. Chainsaw wound, natch.
Out of all that I've seen, 13 Ghosts definitley had the best. It was pretty graphic in showing it, as well as fairly convincing, and I liked how he was still moving his eyeballs around after door sliced right through him. :)

Monty Python's Meaning of Life had a quick shot of a British soldier sliding to pieces as the camera pans past him (in the foreground) after he was apparently diced by a restless native's blade.

I hated the fact that you really didn't see much of the aftermath of the laserbeams, the gore level of the film was a tad disapointing

Good god, I hadn't realized there were that many.
I can just see what film historians will be saying about this in a couple of centuries: "...these scenes illustrate an odd early 21st century folk belief, namely that at the moment of death the body is instantly transformed from a structure of bones and muscles into a solid hunk of Grade A cheese...."

The funny thing is why do they keep doing it? Some of them are semi-excusable(laser beams, tiny wires, etc), but the katana slice is just overdone. There's not a thin enough blade in the world to actually pull that stunt off with. A half second delay, tops, and that's only on thick body parts that fit together, mainly the torso. Decapitations should be more like Kill Bill Vol 1, the head should always come off in the process unless the blade is like half a millimeter thick.
