anyone have the region 2 Conan?

Is the remastered 5.1 track much better than the current region 1 mono track? How about the special features? Is the Arnold commentary still there? If I get a region-free dvd player, I may import it.

Yep, Arnold commentary is there and the 5.1 soundtrack is quiet nice. Here is a list of the special features :

Audio commentary by Arnold Schwarzenegger and director John Milius
Documentary: 'Conan Unchained: The Making of Conan'
Deleted scenes sequence
'The Conan Archives': video montage of stills
Special effects split screen video
Cast and filmmakers biographies
Production notes
Theatrical trailers
Interactive menu
Scene access

Again, more suited for the International forum, but just in case you didn't know, dvdcompare.net claims the UK R2 SE is edited:

R2 - (United Kingdom - SE) - Yes - Fox precut scenes of horse tripping and a sex scene was cut/reframed to avoid an 18 certificate.

So go for the French R2 or the Australian R4 if you want the uncut SE with 5.1 sound.

I have the "Conan The Barbarian" and "Conan the Destroyer" in 5.1 both are Region 4 (Australia) since July 2001. I have a mod (modified) JVC, I have 237 Region 2 & 4. I have just ordered the "Midway" and "Armageddon" discs, although the same OAR my mod JVC can x, y, scale it to anamorphic, each time I view the 2.35:1 Letter box. Last purchase "Deep Impact" this already is a anamorphic, so no scaling is necessary to view.

Yes it's perfectly legal to own discs from other regions of the world, it's a good way to get a anamorphic view out of USA LBX if you have a JVC or Malata x, y, scaler on your mod Progressive Scan player. It's so nice to be zone free, one word of caution don't buy a automatic, buy a manual 'switch' to play R.C.E. (Region Code Enhancement) discs.
