I am writing a system that is similar to the DVD Profiler/Afficionado/Guzzlefish systems currently out there, except that it is written in PHP and would run on your own webpage. It's called DVDphiler. Although the first version is still being written, I wanted to throw the idea out there and see how much interest there is in a project like this, and what features you would like to see.
The info there is about the project can be found here (http://dvdphiler.sourceforge.net/). Please throw any questions, comments, suggestions, etc. at me, as I really want this to be a project that people will like.
Thanks!

...will it be (just) another (North) American-DVDs-ONLY oriented site...?... or will it allow me to enter the French, UK, German, Dutch, Czech, Polish, Russian, Italian, Spanish, Australian, and HK discs, plus one Japanese disc, currently in my 'collection'...?... he asked, not entirely innocently...

Every site had their advantages and disadvantages. Guzzle sucks because they titles outside of r1 is scarce. Afficionado is probably the best out of the three, but it will be nice if they had a more statistical page.

Make it easier to submit new titles.
I've got about ten DVDs that the filers don't have and won't accept. Not bootlegs either - it took them months to get Lucky Break.

The stats of Guzzlefish, the ease of use of Aficionado, the software-tie in to print reports from Profiler.

I prefer Ant Movie Catalog... runs locally, has totally customizable html output and macro scripting for pulling information and images from various online sources.

DVDphiler is not going to be another catalogging site. What it is is a standalone script that allows you to input the information about the titles you own/want/etc. and display them on your own personal web space. It is run locally.
At this point, it will not include a central database of information, such as Guzzlefish, etc. So you will have no limit on the types of discs to put in the catalog.

I wrote one of these for my website, pretty fun project. It is similar to what you're doing except I'm going to have the option of doing it the "Guzzlefish" method or where you enter whatever you want, but you won't get the cool statistics if you don't do it the "guzzlefish" way.

cool Chris. I'd be willing to learn more about it and give it a shot. I tried guzzle...then dropped it like a rock. it's good to keep options open. good luck with it.

I use Guzzlefish just for the cool statistics. However, DVDAF is my primary. I regularly add new titles whenever I can and it is very easy to use.
