Daily Show DVD??
A couple nights ago on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart told a story about his ass hair, then joked that story would wind up on the DVD. A casual comment, but is there a DVD of the Daily Show in the works?

I think it was more a joke of how pretty much everything winds up on DVD.
As far as I know there is no DVD in the works.
And for fun you might want to look in the Other forum for the Blackout 2003 DVD thread.

I too would like a Daily Show DVD but with a news show I'm guessing it would be tough to find news that won't get old during repeat viewing. Most likley is would be the new reports that the cast does and that would give Jon much time on the DVD.....and he continues to be the only reason I watch the show.

I suppose they could put out a dvd about the big news events, such as the war on terrorism... maybe a "best of..." with all the top news stories. It could serve as historical and hilarious.

I watch The Daily Show uhh--- daily... but I'd probably never purchase a DVD release. Like MasterofDVD said, it would be hard to find content I'd want to view more than once or twice.

If the daily show did put out a DVD, it would only be the spots that don't depend on a date. Ex/ the Library of Congress guy with the huge porn collection didn't mention any dates so it could air in 5 years and still be funny and current.
Nothing dates a show like jokes based on world news. 'Breaking' news on a possible Clinton-Intern scandel wouldn't be that interesting now.

As much as I like the show, it's sometimes tough for topical humor to get a big laugh years later. Back in VHS days, I remember reading about why they didn't want to release Rowan & Martin's Laugh In because a lot of the humor was topical and most wouldn't understand the jokes.
I wonder how many younger people watch Airplane! and think the guy that gets left waiting in the cab is just some older actor and have no idea who he really is.

..and don't forget the celebrity interviews. Those are pretty intertaining as well.
Oh wait,..I guess they would be dated as well, since they are usually promoting a new movie or book.

In my ideal world, they'd put on all the John Bloom (AKA Joe Bob) spots on religion they used to have on on one DVD, and I'd buy it.
I'd also buy anything that included the time Posh Spice was on with John Stewart---it was hysterical how they poorly they connected.

If Daily Show does put out DVDs, I would agree that they would be better as "best of" collections. This is one of the few shows I would buy best of collections. Last night's episode showcasing the best of Stephen Colbart's reports was just an example of what they might do with a DVD of this nature. Fill it with material like that, leave the topical stuff out, and I think you would have a winner.

While most of Jon Stewart's shows aren't the type of thing I'd like to watch over and over, I'd love to be able to watch his 2000 election night coverage. That would make for a great dvd set.

He's Howard Jarvis. He let the fight to get Prop 13 passed back in the late '70s here in California. It reduced property taxes. First time I saw the movie, it was pretty funny knowing he was into saving money, yet sitting in the cab while the fare kept going up and up.
Of course, it's still pretty amusing to watch his scenes without knowing the background.

Regarding a Daily Show DVD, I'd probably buy it if it was, like already mentioned, a "Best Of..." the biggest news stories. It wouldn't be as relevant in 5 years, but it would still be funny. We would remember the events, so we could still laugh at the jokes about them.
