Still waiting on mine. I know Preacher had problems with some of them, so I'm not too bothered. Just wanting to let you know there will be a picture from Australia soon.

Little Razzmatazz found his way into my mailbox today! Upon introduction to his new little brother, my cat Rumor decided to show him who was boss! He grabbed the little guy and bolted for under the bed!

http://www.csupomona.edu/~clmartinell/welcome.jpg

I promptly liberated little Razz and reprimanded Rumor for his horrendous attempt to kidnap and eat his new little brother.

More pics coming soon!

BTW Preacher, you misspelled my name on the envelope... it is Martinell, not Martinelli... ;) Don't worry about it, its a common mistake.

He wouldn't have sent me one if he knew what was going to happen to it. It doesn't involve an anus (although the thought did occur to me since I don't like one of my wife's cats).

Let's just say that Pine Green is going to sleep with the fishes before I'm done with it. He he he.

Lemme guess...you were gonna strap it to one of those clay pigeons and have some target practice? The crayon, I mean, not the cat.

No - actually, my idea was - since I live in hot-ass arizona - to take the crayon up to this cool mountain spot where you can see the mountain and the city behind it and put it in front of a sign that says "Greetings from Scottsdale, Arizona!" written in crayon. I was gonna take one picture like that and then come back in an hour when the crayon was all melted into a puddle and take another picture. I guess he didn't want the crayon to die. I thought it was a cute idea. Oh well. Just picture it in your minds. ;)

The blackout of 2003 is commemorated. Well done, Goblincat. Great pics. It was a very good time to start the new thread with pictures coming in now. Strangely the West Coast is getting a lot of crayons before the East Coast.

We got blacked out yesterday and were internet void for about 24 hours. Even with a backup plan we still got stuck.

Tropical Rain Forest "foret pluviale tropicale" made it to Seattle safe and sound.

We're still in the SLR age so photos will take a little longer to turn around. Hopefully I get some good shots before my 3 year-old daughter wears it down to a nub. She thought it was pretty cool that Dad got a lovingly packaged solitary crayon in the mail.

I was wondering the same thing, but I think they were all adopted awhile ago. But I also heard talk about the possibility of replacement crayons, those that were adopted but never heard from again.

Okay, I have mine, but let me be serious for a second. I would LOVE if everyone used approximately the sme size photos (or at least had them somewhere) and we could make this into a coffee table book with ibook or something similar. It could show the ebay page, where they started, where they went. Simple Title like "96 Crayons". Anyway, I think that would be sweet.

Okay, I decided to take mine out to see some sights. So we went down to the Columbia River near the Biggs Junction Bridge. My flash was on, so my hand lit up
<img src=http://w3.gorge.net/kvrdave/crayon2.jpg>

Actually, we were at the very first memorial dedicated to WWI in the entire nation, which is a replica of Stonehenge. The wind blows a lot, so Royal Purple had a rough time standing up or staying on anything.

<img src=http://w3.gorge.net/kvrdave/crayon8.jpg>

I decided it would be great to get a picture of him on the sacrificial table at the center, but he wouldn't stand up. Fortunately there are always old people at these kind of memorials, and they tried to help me out (but were really wondering what was going on).

<img src=http://w3.gorge.net/kvrdave/crayon4.jpg>

Finally, with a few rocks it stayed up for a second and here is the shot sans old people. You have to look hard to see it.

<img src=http://w3.gorge.net/kvrdave/crayon5.jpg>

here is the closeup

Just for giggles, here is a picture of Stonehenge from the highway

<img src=http://w3.gorge.net/kvrdave/crayon9.jpg>

and here is one more of Royal Purple looking up the Columbia River (just outside the circle at Stonehenge.

Great pic's so far, I would like to post more pics soon but my digital cam is not working very well, thank god my spycam is still working so I guess that has to do for the moment....

It is really strange how some people react, when they see you walking around and taking pictures of a crayon... Anybodyelse got strange reactions/stories ??

Nr. 1 Strange reaction/story so far:

"Waar liggen die krijtjes ??" "(Where can I find those crayon's ??)"

This happened when I was taking pictures of the crayon in my store... Maybe the question is not that weird, but how in the hell am I supposed to explain this to a customer in like 30 sec. without looking really stupid ??? :hscratch:

btw: The reaction of my staff (9 women) was very united: "This is incredibly stupid" -ohbfrank- (They just don't get it)

"Piney" (Vert Pin) arrived in my mailbox today. He was a bit frazzled from the trip. It took three bottles of Molson Golden to calm his nerves, but now he seems more himself and has settled in nicely.

It is kind of hard comprehend what he is saying due to his thick French-Canadien accent, but I believe he expressed disappointment with the futon in our guest quarters.

Here he is getting to know the other occupants of my home:

Despite an incident with some slobber, he and Gryphon seem to be getting along fabu:

http://www.jfoobar.com/pics/misc/crayon/crayon2.JPG

http://www.jfoobar.com/pics/misc/crayon/crayon4.JPG

Isabeau seemed less thrilled to make his acquaintance:

http://www.jfoobar.com/pics/misc/crayon/crayon3.JPG

The only one of the three felines (Pixie) I could coax into a picture backed away from Piney like he was a box full of muddy Labrador Retrievers:

http://www.jfoobar.com/pics/misc/crayon/crayon5.JPG

I suspect the distaste might be due to his body odor and prolific nose hair, qualities shared by most French.

Here's a pic of Piney with my piano (someone here wanted to see a picture of it, I have forgotten who), a turn of the century Singer upright grand:

http://www.jfoobar.com/pics/misc/crayon/crayon6.JPG

Here he is in the office:

I went to my 10 year highschool reunion banquet lastnight. I went with my friend who was also our class president and organizer of the reunion. We were driving in the car and she busts out her digital camera. I was like, "I didn't know you had a digital camera. If I had known that, I would have brought my crayon. Long story, don't ask." Then she chuckles and says, "No, tell me." So I told her the whole story, including how it all started because of Randy's eBay thread. Luckily, she didn't think I was crazy...she just thought it was funny.

Yes, it looks horrible and needs thousands of dollars of work, but that it is a 1932 Steinway standup grand. If I can ever find the $10K or so to have it restored, it will be worth twice that. Not a bad purchase for $50 at an auction.

another idea to toss in here.. this one will take some work, but could be pretty cool...

we put together the list of people that have crayons..
the first person gets a nice card with plenty of room to write.. and signs their name.. then mails the second person to sign.. that person mails it to the third.. and everyone that participates can sign the card with their crayon..

the big problem is that I dont know what it would take to get 96 crayon signatures..

Well, Atomic Tangerine arrived today. He got tired of hanging out with the USPS guys in Vegas and God knows where else, and decided to arrive at his new home. He quickly made it known he likes to be called 'Tangerine Atomique', and even went so far as to partially remove his 'Anglophone' name in transit. I meant to get a picture of him with the fur children, but his frenchness was very off-putting to them, and they wouldn't pose. I have to believe it was the smell, as Tangerine Atomique revealed to me that he hadn't had a bath in quite some time.

At any rate, the first thing he did after he shredded his packaging in his haste to get out and see Austin was check out the old typewriter that spawned this whole mis-adventure. He was quite disturbed by the condition of the typewriter. He was very careful not to get any mold on himself, as that might nessessitate some cleaning.

He also inspected the dates inside the typewriter and wasn't surprised that it was not in working order. He claims he's no technician, but he knows a busted typewriter when he sees it.
http://65.65.104.39/crayon/crayon02.jpg

Then we came inside and he hung out with James Dean for a little while. They may go racing in the future, but I hope for TA's sake that doesn't happen.
http://65.65.104.39/crayon/crayon03.jpg

No one told me that my crayon was a closet trekker, but TA spent quite a bit of time pouring over my poster size cutaway view of the Starship Enterprise (1701-D). He's down in the corner inspecting the artists' signatures.

This needs no introduction, but I will say that a horrible tragedy was only barely averted.

Tangerine Atomique arrived a bit too late to go out and see Austin, but he's very anxious and we're expecting some more pictures soon.

On a serious note, I'd like to say that Tangerine Atomique arrived with a $1.30 in canadian postage, so I figure with the cost of the crayons, Preacher is spending about $130 to ship all these out to us. I know it's Canadian money, and that's like play money and converts to like $0.65 US, but still... don't be shy about sending him a little PayPal cash. This is a very cool thing he's doing, and it's not cheap.

In the Anniversary Box that had the 100 crayons in them, included these 4. They have been voted on at www.crayola.com (Thank you ProjectMayhem) and will be joining the Crayola family in lieu of 4 out of 5 of the crayons that are in the 96 box.

The 5 Possible OOPCS are:

Mulberry
Burnt Sienna
Blizzard Blue
Teal Blue
Magic Mint

October 11th will possibly be the announcement date. These 4 above are clearly numbered 1-4 and will have names coming. They were simply packed seperately, as shown above, and added to a 96 box.

I am adding them to the crayon shipping if those who have inquired wish to have them. There was one person left out last night and two more today. If they wish to have them they can. It means there is one last numbered crayon left. First in gets it and I will post immediately.

It gives us 100 crayons total. Seems a good round number, filled out by 4 more looking for a home.

PS. twikoff received the last named crayon. at this time. :)

And all the crayons promised people are in the mail.

I'm a little disappointed in some of the pictures here... I'm surprised that there are so many people who are unwilling to take the crayon outside... Preacher went to alot of trouble - the least you could do is take an outdoor picture... and not of the backyard. I mean pics of crayons sitting on top of a computer monitor kinda scream 'uber-lazy' to me. Make an effort people.

Some of the pics here kick ass though. :) Kinda wish I had a crayon. :/
