Pearl Jam's best

What do you think is Pearl Jam's best album. I own the first three, with Ten being my favorite. What are your thoughts?

I am a huge fan and I know it's not the hip thing to say, but Ten.
I would rank them
Ten
No Code
Vs
Binaural (the live versions far outshine the recorded ones)
Vitalogy
Riot Act (Just because I rank it last does not mean I do not like it, some of my favorite songs off this cd are Ghost, Can't Keep, Thumbing My Way, and especially the live versions of Help, Help. The recorded version didn't do anything for me, but live it is great!)

I don't get it. Why do you make fun of Pearl Jam when your name is evenflow?

Creed talk should go here

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=311362

PJ has never been an album band for me - each record has great songs and filler.

I've always considered Ten one of my favorite albums of all time. It's one of the best rock albums ever.

Yield

followed by

No Code

However, for the best of Pearl Jam, I'd go with either Buffalo or MSG 1: July 8 from the 2003 tour.

I understand that. But his name is evenflow, a famous song by Pearl Jam, so he must obviously like them. Why make fun of a band if you like them?

Vs is easily my favorite. After that I would probably ranked them as such:
Vitalogy
Ten
Yield
Riot Act
Binaural
No Code

You're missing the last three letters of his name-- ddt. The Evenflow DDT is/was the finishing move employed by the ECW/WCW/WWF wrestler known as Raven(who at one point had Evenflow as his entrance music). Just means that Raven liked Pearl Jam, not that evenflowddt does.

May be my own fault, but I put Ten above all others that followed. Vs. wasn't bad, but it wasn't Ten. I don't even follow them anymore.

Oh. I stand corrected, I don't watch wrestling.

If Pearl Jam is so good, how come they can't do a friggin thing now? I heard that since Eddie is rich now, he has nothing more to complain about..... What a ****ing sad state of affairs it is today with music on the radio. And kids on the street. Everyone is wearing those black pants, trying to look kewl and fit in with their favorite "metal" bands, and it's disgusting. Just disgusting. It has just about as much integrity as hair metal did in the 80s. Then again, I could be just about the only waiting for this phase to pass now, who knows..... But anyway, I sure do miss the days of grunge, and Kurt Cobain, and the look everyone had back then. Not the **** today.

Thanks for guys.

I like No Code the best. I think it's their most cohesive album. One of my favs Present Tense is on it.

For a great live cd pick up the Boston III show when it comes out. The first cd is a acoustic set, the next two are the rockin' discs. Great stuff.

Hands down, No Code... I've called it my favorite album, period since about '98, and I don't plan to change soon, although every time I listen to Yield I get a feeling that it should be my #1.

But with No Code you get a gorgeous, poetic opener in Sometimes, very arguably (among hardcore fans) their best song in Present Tense (and my favorite), another incredible fan favorite that I enjoy more and more even though I'd estimate that I've now heard it ~2500 times, In My Tree, amazing rockers in Red Mosquito, Habit, Hail Hail, and Lukin, the album closes with more poetry, including spoken word with I'm Open, and then a freakin' lullaby with Around the Bend! On top of that, you even get to hear Stone sing on Mankind! (the album's only weakness ), and that's not even mentioning two fan favorites, Off He Goes and Who You Are.

But anyway, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

After that, I'd probably rank them:
Yield
Vitalogy
Vs.
Ten
Riot Act
Binaural

but each of those are masterpieces save for Binaural which has some great songs on it (Sleight of Hand, Grievance, Breakerfall...), but overall it's much weaker than their other stuff.

I'd say Yield is the most accessible, but for me, the best album is still Ten. No other album gives us so many classics. Alive, Black, Even Flow, Garden, Porch... the list goes on. Not a weak song on the album. Oh, and Release rocks.

Goes like this:

Ten
VS
Yield
No Code
Binaural
Riot Act
Vitalogy

I guess, that if I had to pick one to go last, it would be Vitalogy. Too much filler, not enough killer.

my ranking, not going to say they are in order of my favorite (don't have a favorite Pearl Jam album), but more about musicianship, ambition, songwriting, lyrics....

No Code
Vitalogy
Vs.
Riot Act
Ten
Binaural
Yield

ten: still my favorite album ever, just raw energy
vitalogy: really the high point for the band
vs: probably a tie with vitalogy
yield: very focused resurgence
riot act: nice to see eddie inspired again...even if it's politics
no code: i enjoy much of this album, but think it's overrated
binaural: i should give this another chance, i was just so pissed about that whole green party thing at the time...
