Affleck on Tonight Show 08-11-03

Anybody see Ben Affleck on The Tonight Show last night?

How many actors would have such a sense of humor over one of the biggest bombs ever? (OK, maybe that's a stretch---although, not much: it dropped 86% in it's second week).

"At least now Ben and J.Lo can have some privacy"

Not many...He has a great sense of humor about it and he is able to laugh at himself which is unusual in Hollywood because of the massive egos. Ben is smart enough to know that in the grand scope of things, Gigli doesn't mean *****.

He's still gonna get $10 million or so for his next movie.

Yeah, Affleck earns some bonus points for me. I still don't like him as an actor & haven't seen most of his movies. But I dig the guy as a celebrity. I found it hillarious that Leno actually thanked & praised Allfeck for doing this, b/c as Leno said a lot of celebrities would never have the balls to do so & would be home crying & stay secluded over something like this. Which is EXACTLY what Lopez is doing.

This thing is really going to hurt Lopez & she will be hearing about it for a long time. But for Affleck, that's it, it's over. He took the right approach & now it's behind him already.

Exactly - even though he is over-exposed and does the occasional stinker or two, he is still a laid-back guy who doesn't seem to let much bother him. Unlike his lady friend.

Damn, I wish I would have seen this interview, because BAffleck does give a good interview. But I can't stand Leno...

I'm sure this belongs over in the Movie forum, but does anyone else get the feeling that Kevin Smith now begins his day by getting out of bed each morning and kicking himself in the arse for a solid half hour.....

He read a list of some of the most horrible reviews the movie received. He admitted that the movie was just a terrible movie & he continued to make fun of the movie through the rest of the interview. But he came off pretty genuine about the whole thing, like Leno pointed out, there are a lot, maybe even most big-time actors would not do what Affleck did.

That showed part of the interview on E.T. and it was pretty damn funny. I can't see 99% of Hollywood having the guts to do what he did.

so did he do this flick for a quick pay check, or did he honestly read the script and say "hey, that seems like it could be a good movie"

I would think a lot of movies look good on print, but look like crap once they are on screen.

I think he did it cuz he wanted to make Halle "feel good". But then they traded up to making Jennifer "gobble, gobble"...

He was pretty level headed on the Tonight Show. I still don't really like him, but at least he had the balls to show up, and laugh at his mistakes.

I saw some of his appearance of Leno. He's an awfully good sport to go on and take a few on the chin like he did

If it's the latter: he should be forced to give his Oscar back.

Did no one see J&SBSB? He pokes fun of himself in that as well. This is why I like the guy. Everything is gravy.

There were rumors that Damon told Affleck he had watched Ben doing all this stupid typical Hollywood bulls*** like dating Paltrow and going to rehab, and making tons of bad movies... but that this JLo thing was the last straw and he had to say something.

As a result, Jennifer wouldn't let him hang out with Ben anymore.

I doubt they were true.

But if she did that makes her even more shallow than she already is. Any woman that makes a guy choose her over his friends is a nutjob. 99% of the time she will get the short end of the stick.
