Alright, so G4's G-phoria awards were on tonight.. I'm sure they will be playing it on and on since they have no other real programing. Wow, this show equeled the suckekekekekekekeke.
basiclly it was boring, the awards were simple to pick out and considering the limited amount of cable companies who actually carry this, It's a wonder why they would go about wasting this much amount of money for an awards show for games. eh. anyone else watch it?

Suprisingly enough I forgot this was on, even though they mentioned it every five minutes.

You have another chance to watch it over and over again as it seems like it will replay every night. :p
the saddest thing.. Jenna Jameason(sp) accepted the award of game of the year for Rockstar's GTA:Vice City...

I heard attending the actual event was a blast though. I drove by the place it was being held and the line was around the block. I think Jenna won some award for best female voice for GTA:VC didn't she? I don't know- I heard all this secondhand. My stinking cable company doesnt even get G4.

I thought I saw this last night 8/08.
anyway. Rather boring kinda lame show. what was it with the people wearing their own costumes. The costumes looked ok I guess but it was very strange.
I figure this is a low budget tv network putting out a low budget awards show. At least they try to bring some attention to gaming.

yeah, they did a tribute to COSPLAY folks... strange. eh. I'm sure they will be showing this non-stop so if you missed it, you'll eventually see it. :p

Yeah, considering that I hate awards shows to begin with this one had very little chance of impressing me in the first place. At least it wasn't all awards, you got to see vids of upcoming games, but nothing you can't see anywhere else. I didn't get to see Public Enemy perform, but got to watch Flock of Seagulls(big whoop). It seemed more like a party then anything else, with no seating and no "real" creators of the games accepting the awards. I know Ray Liotta sent a video acceptance which was nice for his voicework in Vice City and Billy Boyd and Elijah Wood accepted a Two Towers award at the event.
Fortunately enough, the show was only an hour and a half, and not all about awards. In fact, it seemed like mostly a reason to get more celebrities present on the channel. For better or worse.

The fact that no game developers were their to accept their awards was funny.

I was happy that Vice City took a lot of the awards, but this show was really lame. Jamie Kennedy looked and sounded like he had just awakened from a nap. The costume skit and the Kingdom Hearts skit came off as goofy time fillers. Having Public Enemy and Flock Of Seagulls as your only musical guests comes off as cheap and bush league. The Kelly Hu interview was awkward and dumb. I think the only positives were Ray Liotta's bit, and Madden winning best sports game.
And if you ask me, I thought the best female voice performance of last year was Miss Cleo, not Jenna Jameson.

I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, what kind of skit was this? :)
Didn't see any of the show since I don't get G4. Was it set up like the oscars where people come on stage and thank people?

the audiance was standing throughout the whole thing. they would do a typical awards show fashion of showing a bit of the games nominated and then the winner was announced and some random people came out. for Mortal Combat winning best Vs. gamesome mortal combat characters came out and did some moves and some junk. No developers were their. people just accepted the awards for others.
GTA:VC winning is a no brainer.

I stopped watching this station a long time ago, they should really just rename it to Vice City channel cause I swear they can't go 4 or 5 minutes without mentioning it, save for a few shows, and you still get it during the commercial breaks. That short guy from the review show represents everything that is wrong with video games today, I want to hit him every single time that show is on. The show with celebrities makes me want to cry. I think the only show I saw worth watching was the Legend of Zelda special they had, that was cool as hell.. why can't they try to lisence some of the old video game cartoons like Pac-Man and run a toon block? Lord knows they bidding for them can't be much.
BTW.. VICE CITY IS TEH GREATEST GAME EVER MADE YES!!!

They had some guys dress up in costumes to look like characters in the game. Weird spiked hair, colorful costumes, oversized weapons from the game. The whole deal. They came on stage and acted out some scenes from the game.

G4 is one of the worst channels at informing its target market. It seems like they record their shows and then sit on them for 3-4 months before airing them. They have previews for Soccer Slam and Panzer Dragoon! Where's the new stuff?? They just can't keep up with the internet in terms of response time to news.

they could if they actually had some budget to spend. How much would it cost for a live call in production that actually was live and not pre-taped from two weeks ago reairing every night the same rerun?

I am also under the firm belief that perhaps 2 (maybe 3) people that work for/at that station have ever played a Nintendo, a Genesis, or a Super Nintendo.

I think they'd have more of a budget if they didn't waste airtime on crappy shows like "Portal". Have you guys seen that show? It's the one where they have a comedy staged in an MMPORG world.... and it's really unfunny. Also some of their "extreme" hosts are a bit too goofy for my liking. Granted it's better than having a pimple-faced nerd talking but I'd much rather have someone funny and knowledgable rather than someone who looks like they stepped out of a mountain dew commercial.
