Primus Is Back! edit: now with clips

Tim, Larry, and Les are back together as Primus! They have a new EP and DVD coming out October 7th with 5 new tracks and 3+ hours of footage, including all Primus and Les side project videos, and live footage from all eras of Primus!!!!!!!!

Tour in the fall playing 2 sets every night. First set will be random, supposedly different every night, and the second set will be SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE IN ITS ENTIRETY!@!@@oneone

Sorry I'm really excited. Primus is one of my favorite bands and I only saw them once right before they split.

Anyway, ya, I didn't know if anyone knew about this here yet.

Edit: Just found some clips of new Primus tunes! Sounds pretty good!

Huh, didn't see that coming... Pretty cool. I figured Les was done with Primus after the Frog Brigade started doing so well on the touring circuit...

to Herb on skins.

I never heard they officially broke up, so I was hoping some day they would come back. Brain and Herb are both great drummers, but I think herb fits the band a little better.

I thought maybe Brain and the guys had a falling out, but Brain and Les are working on another project with Buckethead as well, so I guess that isn't the case.

Anyway, I can't wait, this will be great!

sweet news! Thanks for the heads up.

IMO, it's just not Primus without Tim.

Cool.

I saw them open for RUSH in LA and was blown away by Les' bass playing. I just hope they can put out cd's with more than 3 great songs.

Hell yea.. Primus is back!!

I just wish Herb still played with them. He is one of my favorate rock drummers. I even named one of my pet Prairie dogs after him, don't know why, but I did. Seems Primus went a little down hill when he left.

I can't wait untill the DVD comes out. Sounds like it will be great. I also hope the tour swings by my area. I've seen Primus twice. The first time they came with Fishbone, what a show that was, and the second time I saw them open for Rush. It was a shame most of the crowd at the Rush show had no idea who Primus was, and the set was very short, even for an opening act.

YES!

I saw them at the "Final Freak Out" in Oakland for the turn of the millenium, then one of their last shows at the Filmore later that year.

Man, seeing Seas of Cheese in it's entirety sounds hella sweet to me. I can't wait to see Eleven played live!

Well I'll be, Yes he is!!!!

I forgot to check the link to the Primus site. This is great news indeed, and it seems he doesn't want to be called Herb anymore. How am going to break the news to my pet prairie dog?

Just digging up this old thread, did anyone see any shows yet? I was at the Eugene Oregon show this past saturday (10/25) and it was absolutely incredible. I once saw Primus on the shitty Family Values tour back when Anitpop came out, but this was just phenomenal.

No opener, 2 sets, 3 hours. All of sailing the seas and about 8 random songs from the early years. I can't remember the whole first setlist, but Tim played a 20 minute drum solo during Seas and they also covered Pink Floyds The Thin Ice during Is it Luck?

I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, probably the third best show I've been too behind Tool and NIN. Check it out if you can.

I haven't seen them yet this tour (hopefully, as long as my friend actually has the ticket he says he does, I'll be going to the Orpheum in Boston to see them) but I've seen them a few times in the past and they rock... er suck... or something .

Anyway, I've heard a few shows from this year and they sound incredible - check out www.sharingthegroove.org to download a couple shows if you're interested (check the "audio bit torrent download" section).

Definately. You should check out their albums too, all of them are good. Some people don't like the later ones with Brain on the drums, but they are great as well. Just a little different. Anyway, it's a great show, you will have fun regardless.
