I decided to play the borrowing game, and lent mine out to someone at work, well that was two weeks ago, and I haven't seen her since, so I want to get a copy of the one disc set (I still have disc 2), and was wondering if the picture is any better, I personally think Scott used a bit too much smoke on many of the scenes.

If you are referring to the old non-anamorphic snapper case version of this movie, it was awful. It was a very early DVD release...Definately before DVD mastering started getting really good... This disc features plenty of compression artifacts, a soft picture and washed out colors... I remember I had the LD and the DVD at the time and the LD was actually better. I think it was Dolby Surround only too and it was very thin sounding.
The new two disc edition is light years better in terms of picture and sound quality(and extras).
I'd say be patient and spend your money else where.

Don't bother. It's non-anamophic and doesn't have the commentaries that are on the SE, either.

Both the original non-anamorphic single disc edition and the anamorphic 2-disc set are the unrated Director's Cut. This is the only version of the movie that has been released to home video.
