First PROBOT single!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This fall...the carnage begins... Everyone's waited (semi) patiently and November will mark the release of the first single from the upcoming Probot album. All you digital modernistas can cool your heels, though...as the single will be released ONLY on 7" vinyl.
Album to follow in February.

Grohl Goes Metal With Probot
The self-titled debut from Dave Grohl's long-discussed heavy metal project Probot will finally see the light of day in February via Southern Lord Records. A 7-inch single is due next month, featuring the tracks "Centuries of Sin" and "The Emerald Law." Fans can preview the cuts on Southern Lord's official Web site.
"Dave did an album at home right before [recording with] Queens Of The Stone Age and the new Foo Fighters [album]," Grohl's friend Liam Lynch tells Billboard.com of the project. "He played all the instruments and drummed -- all these heavy metal songs. They're the most slamming, intense metal tunes, but he never sung on any of them. He went around to all his favorite heavy metal singers -- some of whom are famous, but some of whom are the local dudes in his town growing up who he always looked up to -- and gave tracks out to all these different people."
Indeed, "Probot" sports a who's-who of hard rock vocalists, from Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister ("Shake Your Blood"), Sepultura's Max Cavalera ("Red War"), DRI's Kurt Brecht ("Silent Spring), Corrosion Of Conformity's Mike Dean ("Access Babylon"), Voivod's Snake ("Dictatorsaurus") and Napalm Death's Lee Dorian ("Ice Cold Man"). Former Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil turns in a solo on "Sweet Dreams," which features King Diamond.
"For [Grohl] to not even have to worry about singing and to just come out with the most inspiring grooves he can, it's awesome," Lynch enthuses.
A video for "Shake Your Blood" will be shot next month by director Bill Yukich (Jay-Z, Defari) and features members of the online community SuicideGirls. The upcoming album will also feature a bonus track with an as-yet-unnamed vocalist.
Here is the track list for "Probot":
"Intro"
"Centuries of Sin" (featuring Cronos)
"Red War" (featuring Max Cavalera)
"Shake Your Blood" (featuring Lemmy Kilmister)
"Access Babylon" (featuring Mike Dean)
"Silent Spring" (featuring Kurt Brecht)
"Ice Cold Man" (featuring Lee Dorian)
"The Emerald Law" (featuring Wino)
"Big Sky" (featuring Tom G. Warrior)
"Dictatorsaurus" (featuring Snake)
"My Tortured Soul" (featuring Eric Wagner)
"Sweet Dreams" (featuring King Diamond and Kim Thayil)

Probot's actually been in the works for a few years now. The actual music was recorded a year or two ago at the very latest.
The album should be out in February (according to blabbermouth.net)

I've had to good fortune to own a full-length copy of the album for over a month, and I'll tell ya, it is very, very, very good. Any old-school metal fan will eat this up. Heck, maybe even some new-school fans as well. The track with Max Cavalera slays.
