Can anyone suggest some good DVDs of this sort? Either in terms of the set itself (or more than one set, however many people are on it) and special features and the such.

Robin Williams Live on Broadway is probably THE funniest stand up I've seen on DVD.

these are really good. The Kevin James CC Presents might be good...but isn't it roughly 20 minutes long? Or is there extra footage? I cannot justify purchasing any of the CC Presents DVDs for 15 bucks if it just the footage from the Cable broadcast...Especially when all the ones I mentioned are 1 hour long, more funny, and UNDER 15 bucks.

Both are great but I prefer Jerry. I just bought Robin Williams DVD a few nights ago. There are funny parts but it's still not as good as Jerry.

I don't own the DVD, but Kevin James: Sweat the Small Stuff aired as a one hour special, so the DVD is probably 45 minutes long, plus special features.

The funniest one I've come across is the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. I watch it all the time. Also, doesn't Dane Cook have a DVD out? I loved his Comedy Central Presents.

And that's a hilarious 45 minutes for the James special. I remember CC offering it on DVD a while back when it first aired, but this looks like a good pick-up, although $18 for it is a little steep for me.

Speaking of CC, wouldn't it be great to see them start releasing CC Presents on DVD? Just think, Jim Gaffigan, Tom Papa, Stephen Lynch, Louis Ramey, and so many more!

IIRC there is a David Cross stand-up DVD in the works called "Let America Laugh". In the interview I read there was talk of a commentary track.

Gotta put in a plug for the late, great Sam Kinison. His DVD of "Breaking the Rules" is hilarious. The later "Family Entertainment Hour" featured a fatter, more pathetic Sam, but still funny as hell:

Runteldat wasnt horrible but it wasnt good ether,I laughed a few times so its not horrible IMO,You So Crazy is good though and thats on DVD,only if you like Martin Lawrence though if not give it a pass.

Dice Clay has a DVD out now also if you like that dirty stuff that I love so much,all of these are good that everyone has mentioned.

Margaret Cho is currently my favorite stand up facial expressions and timing is just on key...she has two DVDs out "I'm the one that I want" and "Notorious C.H.O" Out of the two of them I prefer the latter. She does deal a lot with sexuality focusing more on "gay" issues but she also focuses on self-image, racism, and the natural hilarious hypocracies in society. I also second Ellen's "The Beginning" and Jerry Seinfeld's "I'm Telling you for the last Time". I guess it all depends on taste...
