X-Men: Evolution - 08/02

Evidently, Saturday was the season premiere of X-Men: Evolution. Lucky that my TiVo caught it, as I had no idea. Here is the episode synapsis:

Spoiler:
Wolverine discovers that his DNA has been used to create a new Weapon X - a 14-year-old mutant girl called X23. Having experienced a traumatic childhood and a past shrouded in mystery like her genetic donor, she's volatile and dangerous. Infiltrating Xavier Institute, she begins to immobilize the X-Men one by one - and lies in wait for Wolverine.

A decent storyline, although some of the voice acting was awful, especially for
Spoiler:
X23

Next week begins the
Spoiler:
Apocalypse saga!

OK, I gave this show a shot when it first started, but gave up on it.

What's the thought on it now?

I see it's available on WB and Toon. Being the summer and the fact it's on every day, this would be a good chance to catch up.

Personally, I've always liked it. I think the storylines were all pretty good last season, and it looks like this season will even be better. You may want to give some of the reruns a shot on Cartoon Network.

I don't think so. I think the next few episodes will be the first that we see Apocalypse in Evolution, although it is not the first time a storyline has revolved around him.

Ah! Sorry, thought you were asking if Cartoon was playing X-Men at all. Read it wrong.

Thanks for steering me back toward this show!

Between the "best of" week on WB and the nightly showing on Cartoon Network, I've seen about a dozen episodes over the last week and really enjoy it.

It's fun trying to guess all the characters that pop up throughout the school.

One that still gets me: he has very short yellow hair and spiky orange bangs sticking straight up. I haven't seen him use his powers, so I can't guess who he is. Cannonball maybe??

Huh. Everyone was saying that the show was done.

It's an OK show- better than Teen Titans, but then again, what isn't?

Nope, Cannonball has longer, mullet-ish hair. The kid you are talking about is Berzerker.

There is a crappy fansite that has a listing of the characters (with pictures) that you may find interesting. There isn't a lot of detail, but it can at least help you put a name with a face:

This series is really starting to pick up speed. At the start I couldn't stand it. Too much focus on the high-school and teenage blah blah. Now it's interesting as they incorporate more traditional X-men stories with a younger group of X-men.

Can anybody post a recap as to what happened on the last episode of XMen Evolution yesterday? My Tivo for some reason did not finish recording the episode, so I was left hanging.

Did the story finish or is there part 3?

Thanks!

Apocalypse took off in that machine that travels instantly. Nothing was resolved, but it wasn't a "to be continued" thing either.

According to epguides, this was the season 3 finale, but we're getting one more new episode this saturday. Apparently they just ignore the whole Apocalypse thing and this probably was supposed to take place before the season finale.

This link has some good info on how the comics matched up with the episode:
http://www.tvtome.com/XMenEvolution/season3.html#ep42

I've read a ton of X-men comics and oddly enough, I don't know too much about 2 of their main villains, Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse. Considering I was most into the X-men in the early 90s, when these 2 guys were very prominent, I'm surprised at how little I know about them.
