Any information on Dog Soldiers?

I can't seem to find any information on this DVD aside from the fact that nobody has it in stock. I have scoured the net for info regarding it being out of production but can't find any confirmation. I am just trying to figure out what is going on. I may have to hit Ebay.

I really liked this movie and want to add it to my collection. Also, has anyone see any other version besides R1?

Thanks

The R2 version is better. If you can get it, get that one. Try cdwow! for it.

Also, if you check Blockbusters PPV bin, I've seen Dog Soldiers in there recently. One might be lurking.

If you still can't find it, let me know, we'll work something out for it.

Thanks for the cdwow info, they had both R1 and R2. Just out of curiosity what is better in R2?

In the UK version, you get an extra commentary (with the director/writer, a cameraman, and actors), 2 more deleted scenes, a gag reel (w/ optional commentary), story boards, and a combat short film.

That's in addition to what you get with the R1 release.

Probably the easiest way is to just order a copy from amazon. You can get a factory sealed copy for $14.95. Just click on "used and new".

Another option would be half.com.

I'm hoping they release this again with a remake being made.

I was lucky, I found it at my Flea Market for $8. Try the used market, CDexchange and PAWN shops. Unless you are into Werewolves it has a fast turn-around. What I mean is because it was low budget (but a good film) many people do not keep it in their collection. It's been played on TV a few times this year.

I saw the movie for the first time on the SciFi Channel (I think that was the channel). Anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised.

I just think it is weird that the movie was released late last year and everyone had it in stock up until about a month or two. Now it seems to have vanished off the face of the earth with NO EXPLANATION!

Oops, I meant to say with a sequel being made. I don't know why I said remake.

Oh. Okay. Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't fathom why it needed to be remade. However, I figured Hollywood is capable of anything... *sigh*

Very odd that a DVD this new is OOP. Any idea why? A new region 1 special edition on the horizon?

I got the OOP info on a couple different wesites. They never said why it went OOP though. That would be nice if a SE came out. I never got around to picking up the original disk and I want to wait to see what they do when the sequel comes out.

I've seen this recently at Circuit City. I also bought mine from Canada.

I don't think it had a very big pressing being that it wasn't very well know in the US. I suppose it did better in the UK. If you were a store, how many would you order? I don't think much.

I saw it at dvdsoon but the price was like $20 US that seems a little high. What is the cheapest anyone has found it for?

It appears the Region 1 is being rereleased? I'm seeing many ebay listings for preorders (release date 9/30/03).

I hope this is the case. Then again, I never did trust ebay information....

No extras on the rerelease though. I'd go the R2.

It looks like Artisan lost the rights, and Fox will now distribute it.

I just placed a pre-order with a guy on ebay. He had great feedback and answered my email about this being re-released. Should have it next week!!!!!

I would have done a R2 but my dvd player can't do that region. Might pick up a R2 if I ever get a region-free player.

I wonder will the Fox release have an improved transfer... the (oddly enough, anamorphic) Artisan disc looked like hell!

I understand it was low-budget, but still...
