The Yes Album
Fragile
Close To The Edge
Represent their best material IMHO...
Start there, make sure you get the re-masters. After those I would recommend...
Relayer
Tales From Topographic Oceans
Topographic Oceans is a little harder to approach for the casual fan, it's double CD but only contains 4 compositions, each in the ~ 20 minute ++ range. Relayer is also a little harder to approach but has two really good compositions.
90125 is also a good album, albeit a much more commercial and mainstream version of Yes. Their new material is also pretty decent but it sounds too much like "been there, done that".
Close To The Edge and The Yes Album are my favorites, with Fragile (which is available in a damn_fine DVD-A presentation if you are so equipped) close behind . Start there.

my personal favs:
Close To The Edge
Tales From Topographic Oceans
The Yes Album
Going For The One
I also love the Steve Howe solo efforts and Squire's Fish Out Of Water. Journey To The Center Of The Earth from Wakeman is essential. maybe just because I grew up with that one.
I still have the triple LP set of Yessongs....I love the looks of it all folded out even today.
