It looks like FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD is not the Schlesinger/Christie version. The link is for an adaptation made in 1998.

Far From the Madding Crowd is absolutely awesome. Julie is at the height of her powers, my man Alan Bates turns in one of his best performances, the young Terrence Stamp is at his charismatic, evil best and Peter Finch brings a style and grace to his character.

It's also superbly photographed, (by the great Nicholas Roeg, before he embarked upon his own directorial career), with long takes of the southern English countryside that are breathtaking to behold. A classic, criminally unavailable on disc.

I bought the region 2 DVD of Darling and have the widescreen laser of Far From the Madding Crowd. I'm a big fan of Julie Christie and I'm so glad that Columbia will finally be releasing Afterglow on DVD.
