GIGLI - regular people reviews

Anytime a movie gets this much bad press it becomes
a must-see for me.

Is Gigli a horrible movie? No

Is Gigli a good movie? No

Is Gigli entertaining? Yes

The dialogue is "clunky" but it has some funny moments.
The cameos I enjoyed quite a bit.

The best being Lanie Kazan as Affleck's mother.
Pacino has an extremely important but small role.
Christopher Walken also has a scene which I found
to be the most insignificant of the film.

Martin Brest gave us Scent of a Woman and Midnight Run, so he's not completely without talent. Also, Beverly Hills Cop.

But something definitely feels forced and off in this movie.

I have to say though that Ben Affleck plays quite
possibly the best azzh**e I've ever seen in a movie.

One of the hardest things to swallow is this halfwit or retarded guy that Ben & Lopez have to cart around for the entire film.

He gets made fun of but he is also vulgar spewing unintelligible insults back at Affleck for a while.

There is a lot of adult language and some graphic violence, which I didn't think was necessary.

Mainly, there's just no point to this film. Nothing really happens at all.

GIGLI is not going to stay with you, but for sheer entermainment purposes, it makes the cut.

BTW: the theatre was packed.
All eight or nine of us seemed to be able to handle
the so-called "Worse movie ever/of the year."

If Affleck and J-Lo don't drive you crazy you may be able to enjoy GIGLI.

Even though John Schlesinger recently died, that's no reason to take away his Best Director Oscar for Midnight Cowboy. And while Brest is, as you say, not completely without talent, he's not in the same league as Schlesinger.

Oops, I meant Midnight Run, not cowboy.

The wife and I went to see it last night. I don't see where all the negitivity is coming from. We were entertained for two hours which is what I paid for. I give it a 3 out of 5 star rating.

they have a sex scene together (right after the infamous "turkey line", but no nude scene)
