I just give up on radio!

I'm sick of
the damn commercials every 10 min
the damn annoying dj's that won't shut up about some dumb contest that no one cares about
hearing the same 100 songs over and over and over again throughout the day
plus the quality sucks compared to cds

So I guess to find out what new music is out, i will instead check the new release area at best buy or sam goody, or the cheap section, or this forum. (actually, I listen to just one clear channel staion, I mainly listen to Infinity radio stations.

I too am dead sick of radio. I swear to god, one of my favorite stations (in terms of what music they play) ALWAYS, without fail, has a commercial running when I turn to it. I guess they gotta make money somehow, but it just gets ridiculous with some stations. And then there's all the useless blathering of the DJs and hosts and whatnot (I just wanna hear the damn music!), and most stations are crap, and I just don't see much of a point in listening to the radio anymore.

I usually don't listen to the radio to hear what new music is out, but to hear the new music. My local station has been playing the new Rancid song, for instance -- album isn't out yet.

I switch between about 5 different stations, when all fail to play a song I like, I put in a CD.

the only time i'd listen to the radio was when I was DJing..

and that was only on the ride to & from the station...

['bout a total of 10-15 minutes...]

Rock stations have gone to hell in a handbasket.

Alternative stations only play crap like Linkin Park and Staind and Mudvayne.

Classic rock plays junk like Foreigner and Ratt.

ughhh...

Consider yourself lucky if your station has a playlist longer than 40 songs.

Took you long enough...

I gave up on FM radio in high school, that was 15 years ago. As far as listening to music goes, that was the best decision that I ever made...

Netcasts are the way to go. It's like seeing a color film after a lifetime of black + white...no commercials, interesting programming and good sound quality.

Use your Winamp player if you have broadband, there are tons of choices.

No kidding....this has been the story for a long time now. I just listen to talk radio and d/l new music by word of mouth - if I like what I hear I go find it.

Gave up on Clear Channel many years ago. I occasionally turn on the radio to hear "new" music.......the new music that clear channel controls anyway......

The few occasions that I do listen to radio I swear they(all stations) delibrately make their commercial breaks at the same time so that you cannot surf to another station that is actually PLAYING music. This of course is true considering most of the radio stations in the MPLS/St. Paul area are all controlled by Clear Channel.

It's quite sad, when you think about it. Most people are sheep so they just listen to the radio stations not realizing what they are missing. The second somebody gets a clue and actually plays MUSIC rather than playing what the RIAA tells them too is the second I tune back in.......I'm not holding my breath though.

Some of the radio stations here just plain lousy. I can't even listen to a station without having them play the same o' songs every 25 minutes or hear just 2 songs, a commercial, another 2 or 3 songs, and so on...

And I HATE IT! when the DJs talk over a song that is about to begin or end.
And DJs talking about their personal lives. I don't want to here that.

Years ago there was a time that I could listen to the day and night, while i'm sleeping. Not anymore! Now I just reside to listening to my MP3s or CDs.

ClearChannel has literally screwed up, practically taking over radio stations all over the place.

I gave up on radio a long time ago too. I got XM almost a year ago and am very happy with it. The stations I listen to on XM have no commercials or maybe 2 commericials an hour. The quality is great too. It is so worth the 9.99 a month. The only problem is the intial cost.

"Music" radio is so bad, that I just end up listening to sports radio mostly (at least I'm interested in Sports). I've gotta get a CD player in my truck!

Me too! I have had it for about 6 months now, and can't go back to radio. Then again, who doesn't love XM?

The only thing worthwhile on radio is talk radio shows.
