Jedi Academy: thoughts?

Well, after playing a few levels. I must say. Screw SWG, I'm glad I don't pay the monthly fee. What I really want to play in the SW universe is as a Jedi. this game offers that in a nutshell. No lame quest or chances of having to do this and that to atleast be considered jedi material, striaght off the bat, You're a jedi in training.

This is one of my most anticipated titles. I really liked Jedi Oustcast, and this looks to be more of the same(a good thing), just with a heck of a lot more lightsabers!

With the proposed Live! playabilty that means system link play(I don't have DSL or cable avaialable to me) so something other than Halo to play at LAN parties is a major plus.

Uh....beta copy. Wont say where I got it (to abid to the rule gods, so you wont get it out of me), but Just trying to discuss how I'm enjoying it more then I would SWG simply because You actually are a jedi knight. Not to mention that since the game is a few weeks from being gold, it's to bring up talk about the game.

Well here's some screen caps. Still need to figure out what the Capture screen shot button is, for now, I just have to take one picture at a time.

First KOTOR, and now this...It's definitely redemption time for those of us disappointed with Galaxies.

Is this going to be another PC only game?
How is the multiplayer part of it set up?
Does it play like MMPORPG?
What other games are similar?
What are the recomended system reqs?

It's going to be PC and Xbox Live

it plays like Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast. first person shooter/ 3rd person saber action and you gain more force powers and actually choose the path you take (dark or light depending on which powers you pick)

I'm running a 1.4 with 512 ram Ti4800SE (pretty much a Gforce 4 4200 ) and it runs well.

similar to Jedi Knight, Dark forces, etc. etc.

Multiplayer is set up just Like Jedi Outcast. saber dueling and so forth. you have three stances. defensive, offensive and the middle ground. the different stances offer different ways to attack.

You also pick up weapons for a typical first person shooter. sabers in defensive and middle ground stance block most of the blasters unless you are performing an attack

In the story mode you get to create your character with heads, torso, legs and race. you get to pick the saber hilt and color. as like in Jedi Knight II, you can of course make your own saber hilt customized and so forth.

so far.. the game just rules.

droooool... never even heard about this game but once again, i have to reiterate that in my humble opinion, not being a jedi in star wars = no game.

Oddly, I have not recieved any e-mail about it. though I will not post any links or talk about much on how I got this on the forum since that goes against the rules. though I'm always up for conversations outside of the forum.

No, it's a single player game with multiplayer modes, like most FPS.

This is the sequel to Jedi Outcast, aka Jedi Knight 2 (which was the sequel to Jedi Knight, considered by most to be a sequel to Dark Forces...phew!)

What do KOTOR and JK3 both have in common? The developers have their roots in PC gaming. It's probably pretty straightforward to develop these games for the Xbox alongside the PC versions.

I wouldn't be surprised to see JK3 come to the other consoles, afterall JK2 is available on all 3.

I'm not sure what kind of deal MS has for JK3 though (i.e. time exclusive or full exclusive).
