Do you have a movie you judge people by?
Is there one movie that you judge people by? I mean if they like it then you respect or dont respect that person.

Yes.
If you like Just One Of The Guys, you are my new best friend.
And if you are into modern japanese horror films,
I don't like you very much.

I would take a bullet for you if you like:
Memento
Evil Dead 2
Adaptation
Dead Alive
Taxi Driver
I will personally come to your house and murder you if you like:
Pearl Harbor
Scary movie (either)
I Still Know what You Did Last Summer
Any movie starring Mandy Moore
Memento
Evil Dead 2
Adaptation
Dead Alive
Taxi Driver

It's not so much what they like or dislike, but why... Like if I hear "Oh, I hated Memento... it didn't make any sense" I instantly label that person a moron. Now if they said something like "I didn't like Memento because I thought it was too gimmicky", I'll disagree but still respect the person.

If you gave Office Space a chance you are ok by me.
If you actaully saw it when it was at the movies we could be best friends. ( But if I recall there weren't many people at our showing )
If you can't enjoy a good eye candy film I may just poke your eyeballs out so you can't ever enjoy any other movie.

If they like Fight Club or The Big Lebowski, I know we can get along. If their favorite movie is either Hardball or Sweet November, I hope to never speak with them again.

Sorry, but everyone's movie choices suck. Not suck as in they're bad movies, but they're bad movies to guage other people by.
Now... you want the ultimate movie to guage a person by?
The Princess Bride.
In my lifetime, I've only come across ONE person that did not like that movie.
If someone doesn't like Princess Bride, there's something not quite right upstairs, and not in a good way.
I can't think of any other movie that is so universally loved.

I agree with fumanstan on Star Wars. If people like the film, that's fine, but if they are obsessed with it then that's a clear sign for me to STAY AWAY.
