Uzumaki R3 defect?
I recieved the Uzumaki R3 Universe dvd today from HKFlix.com, and while watching it, it would repeatedly freeze my player at a certain spot. I was able to skip forward past the trouble spot and finish watching the movie, but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with this dvd.
As a side note, I saw a copy of the same dvd on the returns shelf at Kim's in NYC. I have a sneaking suspicion that there might be a bad batch of these discs. Perhaps I should just go for the new R2 disc, has anyone seen the quality of it? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Defective Uzumaki R3 DVD
The R3 dvd I bought from hivizone.com almost two years ago played fine. I have 15 or 20 other movie dvds that freeze on my Cyberhome 500 player, usually between the third and sixth chapter stops. Those DVDs are RSDL American made. From my limited knowledge, single layer DVDs such as Uzumaki usually don't freeze frame. Universe, the HK licensee, is not number one for quality control, but I have had no major problems with their DVDs, except for their noisy opening logo and the way they hid the extra scenes of Shaolin Soccer on their DVD version of the movie. You may have just been unlucky, getting a defective disc.
You can e-mail HKFlix and ask for a replacement.

Definitely get a replacement. The QC on HK DVDs is pretty weak. I have Uzumaki and it doesn't have the problem you described. I did have to return several HK DVDs in the past but once I got the replacement, they worked fine.
