x, y, scaling seems to be the answer for discs that are/were released as 2.35:1 Letterbox, why is the Malata and a mod JVC the only ones that do it?
P.S. MY JVC only does it for a viewing a PAL 2.35:1, you have to scale it every time you want to watch it. Just seems like the answer for so many of us that have LBX, and have to watch a 'bummer' of a LBX small in height wide screen.

As long as your talking about non-Anamorphic DVD's that you want to scale I see your point! I have the Panasonic RP91 that does the best true scaling of anything player out there which is great for me since my HDTV locks in Full mode when fed a Progressive signal!
To many use this function to butcher films just to "get rid of the black bars"! I really hate those who spend all the money on equipment like HDTV's etc.. only to butcher films with the goofy need to fill the screen! Those people realy don't have a love of films but merely a passing fancy!
