Spider-Man 7/18
The action was better last week, but I enjoyed the show a little more this week. The dialogue was better last week, but I thought they did a much better job of incorporating the bad guys/fights into the show this week. Plus, showing more of MJ, Harry, and Peter's civilian life took away from the Saturday morning cartoon/monster of the week feel.
Of course the worst part of this show remains. Whoever casts this show should be shot. Rob Zombie was great (with as little as he had to do), but Eve and JJJ were horrible.
Another minor annoyance is the look of MJ and Harry. I enjoy all the other character designs in the show with the possible exception of the Kingpin from the commercials. But, the 2 characters we see the most, besides Peter/Spider-Man, are also 2 of the oddest looking characters on the show.

the episode w/ the Lizard was good, but Rob Zombie shouldn't have been voicing Doc Conners. That's really bad voice work. As for JJJ, whoever it is, does a crappy job. Ed Asner, ironically, who does one of the cop voices, would have been a much, much better choice. As for the 2nd episode w/ Eve, I don't know what to say. The character was white, but she spoke with such a tone that I knew whoever voiced her was black. Not a good episode, at all.

Where's Aunt May?
And who else thinks Harry will inevitably become the Green Goblin after he discovers Peter's secret. I think he's going to discover Peter's secret soon enough, especially if more situations take place like him seeing Peter acting weird after sticking his costume to the ceiling with webbing. I think Harry knew something was up with Peter at that point but wasn't exactly sure what.

Mediocre for both.
The spidey action animation still good but everything else was pure crap. The Talon has to be the biggest ripoff of Aeon Flux ever. And of course, the voice acting still sucks ass (read: Lizard, JJJ and Talon).
Spidey seems to pull a Doogie Houser at the end of every episode now. Great
If next week is equally bad, I'll just give up on the show entirely. Thanks MTV.

I didn't get the impression that the character was supposed to be white; quite the contrary in fact..

I rather enjoyed them both. The show has a nice post-modern Lee/Romita comic book-ish vibe going on.
It's nice having a wise-cracking Spidey again.
Uh, you might want to check your brightness level on your monitor.
She's definitely a sister.

she didn't look white to you on tv, because she sure did on my tv.
She's definitely a sister.

my set is calibrated with Video Essentials. I don't think there's an issue w/ the TV. It may be the cable signal, then.

Episodes were okay. I like the level of violence (Lizard's first apperance) and sticking his costume to the ceiling was cool. In fact, everything they do with his webbing is cool.
The character stuff was just kinda "eh." And I too am getting tired of them wearing the same clothes. Though I guess that's more or less a cartoon staple, huh?

I wonder how they're going to handle continuity issues with future movies, considering the cartoon is supposed to take place after the first film. Harry would definitely become the Green Goblin, but they might want to save that for the third film. Of course, the movie's probably just going to ignore anything they do in the cartoon anyway.

So, I went to a panel with Brian Micheal Bendis last weekend at San Diego and he talked a little bit about the show. Basically he said he only wrote the pilot but that pretty much means he will (unfairly perhaps to the real writers) have his name on each and every show.
Regarding the animation he was saying that yeah, its not perfect but its still good to see technologies being mixed together - even if its not perfect now it is a stepping stone in the evolution.
