What games are you looking forward for the rest of 2003?

In the grand scheme of things, it seems to be pretty dry. Here's my current list:

Mario Golf in about two weeks!

Then...

1. Fable (Winter 2003)
2. B.C. (Early 2004)
3. F-Zero (Aug 25th)
4. Mario Kart Double Dash
5. Final Fantasy Tactics (Sept 8) / Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (Oct 6)
6. Mario Golf Advance Tour (Dec 1) / Pokemon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire (Aug 25)
7. Giftpia

(GBA games are in pairs of two because 2 GBA games are the same price as one console game )

There are only a few (in italics) that I will definitely be buying in stores. The rest I might not end up buying at all.

Of the rest, I'll probably lose interest in a bunch, wait for cheaper prices than $50 on some, and trade for others. I just put them on the list because I'm looking forward to seeing more info before I make any decisions about whether to buy them or not.

(Yes I know that NCAA 2004 and KOTOR are both out already, but I don't have them yet. I'm probably waiting a bit until I knock more of these off my list.)

2003
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
NCAA Football 2004
Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Ninja Gaiden
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Fable
NCAA March Madness 2004

2004
Halo 2
Doom III
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow

Full Spectrum Warrior
Banjo Kazooie 3
BC

The lists here are kind of proving my point... doesn't it seem like a shortage of great games?

I completely disagree, but then again - half the games in your list I'm completely disinterested in, so perhaps it all comes down to personal taste. The list I posted above is all games that I plan to buy and at least half of that list are games that I'm really excited for.

edit: actually, I'm excited for every game on that list now that I look at it again... there's maybe 5 or 6 games that I'm on the fence about.

Here's my list:
Mario Golf
F-Zero
PN03
Star Wars: RS III
Viewtiful Joe
T.H.U.G.
XIII
Final Fantasy(s)-Tactics & Crystal Chronicles
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Billy Hatcher (curiosity)
GO GO Hypergrind (spumco)
Mario Kart: DD
Boktai
Fire Emblem
Sword of Mana
Soul Calibur II GC
All these title will keep me broke til the end of the year. It also sucks when multiple good titles get launced same day and this is going to start happening frequently.

Indeed.

It is a matter of taste though. Trigger's list speaks to this. The only thing on his list that I didn't mention that I'm excited in is FF X2 which somehow slipped my mind.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I'm not into PC gaming, and a lot of the console stuff lately just seems like sequels and rehash.

FFX 2 is one of the few that I'm on the fence about... So yeah, different strokes/different folks. Most of the games on my list aren't sequels or rehashes and many of them are available for multiple consoles... besides - according to your list, it seems like sequels and rehashes is all you are interested in.

Went looking ahead through December and beyond...

ESPionage
Thief 3
Sam and Max 2
Trinity
Full Spectrum Warrior
Fable
The Movies
Vampire: Bloodlines
DOA Online
Syphon Filter Omega Strain
Men of Valor: Vietnam
Full Throttle II
Breakdown
Fast and the Furious
Legend of Zelda: Four Swords
Starcraft Ghost
Rise to Honor
Sims 2
Driver 3
Call of Cthulhu
Black and White 2
Splinter Cell 2

Halo 2
Team Fortress 2

That's just at EBGames - doesn't count dozens of games that don't have release dates yet - like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Doom 3 and Duke Nukem 4ever. I don't really understand people saying there's nothing good coming out. I'm thinking maybe you guys just don't like video games that much...

Those aren't all shooters... to be fair - I like RPGs, puzzles, adventure games, FPS, Strategy, Survival Horror, Stealth, Squad based Combat, Flight simulation, Flight combat, Space sims and shooters, Fighting, Sim, RTS, Shooters, Platformers, Music games, online games, racing, and some sports.

Even with owning an XBOX, PS2 and a GC I have a very small wish list.

Halo 2 - Since rumors of an early release are starting up
X-Files: Resist or Serve - Even if the controls are crappy like RE it'll still be a great game.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Chaos Bleeds - But I won't buy it till after I get Season 5 since the game takes place during that season.
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - Just looks great and I can't wait.
Doom III - EYE CANDY !!!! and hopefully a great game too.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - Might be on my wish list but I have to see how the battle system and GBA hook up feature works out. I want it but I can live without it.

There is no PS2 game in the near future I want for this system but something might come up.

Well, IMO pretty much every game out there is a sequel or rehash. There's very few games that are truly original. Hell, even most of the games that are touted as original in reviews and stuff aren't really innovative, but rather just combine a few elements from existing games in new combinations.

So I basically just try to by a games in alternating genre's. I haven't played a fighter really since Soul Calibur 1 (bought VF4 but didn't like it) so I'm fairly excited for the sequel even though it's clearly rehash.

But it's definitely a problem that is causing my interest in games to wane. I check in here at least every other day hoping to see some games that look totally original to respark my interest, but it's been a while since that happened.

This is another difference. You're a hardcore gamer, and your vast and varied gaming tastes reflect this. I'm much more casual in my gaming and have much narrower interests (and thus much fewer games will appeal to me).

I'm really only into: platformers, adventrue games (Zelda type games, not the PC adventure genre), fighting games and sports games. With maybe the occasional racing game (namely Mario Kart and Gran Turismo) and the occasional shooter (Rogue Squadron, Star Fox etc.).

Not in any particular order except for F-Zero GX:

F-Zero GX!!!
Viewtiful Joe- loved the demo
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals- Penny Arcade said it was his favorite game of E3,
Final Fantasy X-2 -
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes- looks awesome!
Silent Hill 3
Soul Calibur 2 (GC version 'cause of LINK! )
Star Ocean 3- sequel to one of my favorite rpgs
Tales of Symphonia
Mario Kart Double Dash!!
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance- been waiting for this one for a long time
Boktai- I think this might be the sleeper GBA hit of the year
Fire Emblem
Sword of Mana
Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire
Giftpia- crazy, wacky game
Billy Hatcher- played the demo, the game has potential, lets hope they use it.
Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike- incredible!
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town

There are tons more that I'll think of when I hit submit, I'll play them as they come out. My list is too big already, and I do have a life too . I don't know how I'm going to play all these games, and like jediwicz said, they are going to start multiple releases in the same day. Christmas is gonna be rough this year .

Any games from Rare can be pushed back to 2005, or 2004 if they're lucky.
