Disney already has begun work on PIRATES 2...
Didn't seen this posted. Found the info over at Cinescape.com.

Early work being done already. With a $46 million dollar opening weekend it was bound to happen.
Josh Spector over at The Hollywood Reporter says that Disney is in early development on a sequel to PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. According to Spector, the studio has already locked the principal PIRATES players including director Gore Verbinski, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and cast members Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. As well, the movie's screenwriters, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, are thinking about where they could take the characters in a second adventure.
One week after its bow, the film is approaching the $80 million dollar mark at the box office.

Do they have to make a sequel for every movie made?
I believe the next movie will bomb, people are going to see it becuase of it being new, next time people will say "been there done that".

I'm hoping Elliott and Rossio write it, but if Depp and Knightley are there...so am I.

I remember when I read in an article about Batman Returns about a possible sequel to Edward Scissorhands, which sounded great at the time (since I was like 12 or so when I read about it) and didn't realize till sometime later that they were actually referring to a sequel to another Tim Burton movie: Beetlejuice. That, of course, never materialized either.

I read somewhere - an interview with the writers - that they said that they went into the first movie with a couple more stories in mind, and that they had a whole bunch more they could do with the characters.
Me - if they get the leads back, if they get Gore back, I will so be there. That movie rocked.

If they get the core group of people involved, I will definitely be interested in a sequel. I was very impressed when I saw PotC last night - especially considering how bad I thought it would be since I saw the first trailer last winter.

The "been there, done that," virus has spread greatly among theater participants this summer, just look at what happened to Charlies Angels.
That said, I think the sequel should focus upon Jack Sparrow, and let Will and Elizabeth live happily ever after.

This condemning of sequels before they are even written is strange. There are plenty of decent sequels out there. If all the major talent returns, what reason do we have to believe the next movie won't be as good (assuming you liked the first one)?

CORNELIUS:
That line occurs when Lone star and co. are leaving after "refueling." Yogurt gives him the fortune cookies and then lone star says "will I ever see you again?" which yogurt responds to by saying "god knows well all meet again in Spaceballs 2:The search for more money." We can only hope...
With that said, I really liked Pirates and, given the right script, and a decent story, it seems like POTC2 could be a fairly good movie. At least it can't be as bad as Cutthroat Island...
