Pepsi Smash, New Live Music Show on Fox
Anyone catch this? I just finished 'The Recruit' and begain channel surfing, and Evanescence caught my eye. They performed "Going Under" and "Bring Me to Life" which both rocked wicked hard! Looks like the Atari's are on now.
Basically seems like a more corporate version of Farmclub.
Next week they will have
Beyonce
Trapt
Queens of the Stone Age
Bow Wow
Always nice to see some live music, even if some sucks. Hopefully the show works out.
I figured this belonged in the Music forum, as opposed to the TV forum but move it if need be. The show is about live music and interviews so it made sense to me hear, similar to the Headbangers Ball thread.
Here is the summary from the tvguide.
----------Pepsi Smash
60 min.
Debut: Music fans get a taste of the hottest summer sounds in this weekly series, which showcases live performances by a variety of acts.
Everwood's Emily VanCamp and Gregory Smith host this episode, featuring the rockers Evanescence, who perform the hit “Bring Me to Life”; the Ataris, who offer up a version of Don Henley's “The Boys of Summer”; and Black Eyed Peas, who ask “Where's the Love?” While short interviews with the artists are included, the series clearly places the emphasis on live performances, eschewing the videos and lip-synched dance numbers of other “music” programs. Future performers slated to appear include Beyonce Knowles and Michelle Branch. (VCR Plus+ 197968)

It's on the WB, not Fox.
I only caught bits and pieces of it, but I liked it. It's very teen-oriented, obviously, so I doubt it'll be a giant success, but for the WB, it'll probably still do good.
The only thing that really bothered me was the stupid interviews they attempted. Celebrities don't really make the greatest journalists. Actually, really, the hosts bothered me, even though I loved "Everwood". Having two celebrity hosts each week wasn't why I wanted to watch, and it would be easier just to have an announcer/voice over guy.
I'll be interested in seeing next week's episode. There will be performances from beyonce, queens of the stone age, trapt, bow wow, wilshire. Hmmm.
