Carpenter fans! They live and Prince of Darkness coming in oct!+ more Universal dvds

http://homevideo.universalstudios.co...10%2F01%2F2003

Looks as though Universal is releasing a Carpenter pack with new versions of they live, Prince of Darkness, and the Thing. They all come out on oct 7. There are also some other horror titles that Universal is releasing, including some of Wes Craven's films like Shocker. It looks like They live will be anamorphic, but it isn't listed whether Prince of Darkness and the Thing will be anamorphic. I'm hoping that these titles will receive new DTS tracks.. kinda like the brat pack movies being released in sept.

I wonder if They Live will include the excellent commentary track from the Region 2 UK release...

Good news all around, though!

Well, I must be blind 'cause I don't see anything about it being anamorphic. Can you copy and paste the info? Thanks.

I still don't see anything about The Thing being anamorphic. On the site it has a picture of the old release and the specs.

I'm clicking on "The Carpenter Collection" link and then the "more details" link. It shows the old edition. Where does it say anamorphic?

I think it's just a package bundle of all three.

Seems They Live will be a snapper! R2 has a clear case! I think I’ll wait to see what features are in They Live R1 before deciding if I should get rid of my R2 UK.

Was that a typo, or does the set really not include the first Child's Play?

I have Bride of Chucky (just watched it, as a matter of fact) but at $32.98 SRP, I'm tempted to sell it, and buy the set. I've never seen any of the other films.

It really doesn't include it. The first film is owned by MGM in US, not Universal.

Ah, that explains it. And explains why the SRP is so low. Thanks!

Great news, about "They Live". That fight between Piper and David Keith is one of the all time greats. I can't wait to have this!

Looking foward to Demon Knight as well. I wonder if a sequel will ever be made.

I'm excited about the Wes Craven set... I've been awaiting People Under the Stairs for awhile, and Shocker is a guilty pleasure of mine that's been on my maybe buy list for awhile. I'm glad I held off. Serpent is a decent film, although I'd almost prefer the cheezy fun of Deadly Friend in the three pack. I already have The Thing and didn't care for Prince of Darkness, so I'll probably just pick up They Live out of that set. The Chucky trio is a probable pick up as well. This is gonna be an expensive winter.

Prince of Darkness

I own this disc and mine is anamorphic, what else are they going to do? I thought my next disc of POD would be in a HD-DVD!

P.S. I sure like person that plays Catherine, I could ask her out for some coffee a few times then end up in bed and not get much sleep.

That would be Academy Award winner Lisa Blount...

They Live looks to be barebones. I hope they update this.

HOLY ****!!!!!

This is the announcements I've been waiting for....

not only is Universal releasing those AWESOME carpenter and craven discs... CHILD'S PLAY 3... it's about damn time... sure, its the worst of the series, but I want my chucky collection to be complete... although, if the box is cool enough (assuming the actual 'chucky collection' is a box set, not just a 3pack) I may have to rebuy cp2 and bride... i want the box!!!

also I am so excited and have been dying for reissues of DEMON KNIGHT which is great, and more importantly BORDELLO OF BLOOD!!!!!!!! I think Bordello is an extremely underrated black comedy.... very damn funny... October is going to rule!

Universal is not giving the fans who already own "They Live" and "Prince of Darkness" ANY reason to buy these again.

The same pithy 2.0 sound mixes and a trailer per disc. Well whoop-de-doo.

I suppose I can understand if Universal couldn't acquire the commentary tracks that were on the R2 discs, but why they couldn't upgrade the audio to 5.1 is beyond me. They had better be including brand new transfers or else I see absolutely no reason to purchase these again.

Talk about being disappointed....maybe Universal thought "Hey, at least they're not in those awful snapper cases, maybe they'll buy 'em for the spiffy packaging!" Blah
