Who is your favourite actor/singer

Who do you think are the people who made the transition from singer to actor or actor to singer a success or failure?

I for one think that Jennifer Lopez makes a better actress (I'm thinking U-Turn, Anaconda) than a singer. The same for Ice Cube (Three Kings, Anaconda) and LLCoolJ (Deep Blue Sea).

For bad transitions I think Mariah Carey (Glitter) sums it up.

Please mention the specific movies.

Will Smith went from a decent rap star to one of the more popular actors today

Method Man was good in Belly, Copland, and most recently episodes of The Wire.

Eminem was great in 8 Mile, but blew hard in The Wash.

Gregg Allman was good in Rush.

dude, Ice Cube is considered 1 of top west coast rappers of all time and if you listen to rap like me, you know his albums dont disappoint. I think Ice Cube is a good actor but he shines as a rapper.

Hey, I like J. Lo's music so please dont make fun of me. I'm serious about his, I have all her albums.

What about Mandy Moore and Britney Spears?. I dont listen to their music or watched there movies so can anybody give me any detail. I know that both there movies flopped but I mean, is there acting any good.

Alot of rappers are staring in movies nowadays. I remember when Samual L. Jackson said he will never be in a movie when a person is a music artist at first then goes to movies. HA, what a load of crap he is, he's in the new movie called S.W.A.T. that has LL Cool J who was a music artist first.

Rappers That Are In Movies:

-Ice Cube (good actor)
-Method Man (good actor)
-Redman (not enough movies or tv shows to judge)
-Ja Rule (bad actor)
-Ludacris (bad actor)
-DMX (an okay actor)
-Eminem (good actor for 8 Mile)
-Snoop Dog (an alright actor)
-Dr. Dre (an alright actor)
-Xzibit (not enough to judge but from what I'v seen so far, bad actor)
-Busta Rhymes (bad actor)
-LL Cool J (bad actor IMHO)

At more to the list if I missed any if you want too.

The late Richard Harris had a hit single with MacArthur Park.

David Bowie starred in several movies, most notably The Man Who Fell To Earth, and received rave reviews when he starred in The Elephant Man on Broadway.

Sting did dramatic roles in several movies, including the great Brimstone and Treacle.

I thought P. Diddy was good in Made and Monsters' Ball, but I don't like his music. Well, okay, sometimes it isn't his music, but you know what I mean.

I wonder if Method Man is a method actor.

Why yes, I have...

Also, I'd like to add Bing Crosby, a man so fine as an actor you almost forget he was one of the greatest singers of the 20th Century.

The Beatles as a unit were accomplished actors, and Lennon did some fine work on his own. David Bowie and Ryuchi Sakamoto were excellent in Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence (Bowie has done other excellent work, too). The list could go on and on.

You can flame me if you like, but Tyrese in Baby Boy made me forget I didn't like his music and that he was a singer/model at all.

And Dwight Yoakam in Panic Room, as far as I'm concerned, is proof that a singer (even a country one), can completely disappear in a role. Excellent work. I thought it was a one-time fluke, but then he did it again with his role in Hollywood Homicide. Sure the movie pretty much sucked, but I didn't even realize it was him till it was over. And that may not be all it takes to be a good actor, but it certainly helps when you're better known as a singer.

Also like Milla, Eminem, Will Smith and Ice Cube.

And I can't not mention Meat Loaf, of course. "Bob had b*tch t*ts."

Frank Sinatra
Al Jolson
Bing Crosby

Priscilla Lane - She was quite popular singing with her sisters for Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians Dance Band before breaking into movies. Her movie credits include such pictures as Varsity Show (1937), Four Daughters (1938), Roaring Twenties, The (1939), Blues in the Night (1941), Saboteur (1942) and Arsenic and Old Lace (1944).

Unfortunately for her fans, Priscilla Lane retired as an actress while in her early 30's in order to raise a family.

Russell Crowe, doesn't he have a band he plays with in Australia. I heard on of the songs and I was like WTF. Obviously he's a better actor than singer

Musician's can count as well. Basically anyone that has talents in both the acting and music fields.

Just thought I would add a vote to Jack Black. I guess Adam Sandler can also be considered.
