Is A Few Good Men a good blind buy?

I just purchased this movie but have not opened it yet. It was only 9.44 at Walmart. I mean with the cast there was it seemed like a good purchase. Its got Jack Nicholson in it which was a major selling point. What do you guys think? Good or bad buy.

For a Few Good Men is a excellent movie as long as they kept the 4 letter words in it like mine.

I really enjoyed it but I havent seen it for a number of years so not sure how well it has dated.

Its worth the $10 for Jack alone

Awesome movie. First-rate dialogue and totally compelling drama - one of the best of the '90s. It's a nice DVD too - great picture quality, fairly good documentary.

The fact that it was a special edition was a big factor in buying it as well. LB, I look forward to watching the doc when I am done with the film.

It was a blockbuster hit at the time (what Cruise flick wasn't back then) but looking back on it with hindsight, I'd say its really only an average film at best. Interesting to watch Jack Nickelson laughingly overract his eyebrows off towards the person holding his cue-cards however. For the price you paid and considering it's the SE I'd say what the hell keep it for his ridiculous performance alone as this disks merits certainly don't include Reiner's commentary which like his other tracks could almost put an insomniac into a perpetual coma.

I really like it. Jaaaack isn't in it much, only a couple of scenes, but his presence is felt throughout the film. Expert dialogue.

Some don't like it, they say it's too happy and that the only real edge is won in the last ten minutes, but it's definitely worth what you paid.

Anymore, though - there's a forum for reviews & reccomendations. Welcome to the forum!

Great film. Great plot. Great cast. Watch out for a really young Cuba Gooding Jr Even Demi Moore didn't irritate me, which was a bit of a shock! You did well, tonymontana

Great story. Great characters. Great drama. Infused with great humor. No car chases, shootouts or explosions though. I even liked Rob Reiner's commentary. Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon are both excellent as well.
An excellent blind buy!

I'd have told you to buy this movie had you seen it for $20 at Wal-Mart. As many have already stated, it's a very enjoyable, engrossing film.

i didn't like it, so i wouldn't recommend it.
but it is pretty popular...
all those big bright shiny stars.

for me, meathead is dead after he peaked with 1990's misery.

Definitely open it and watch.

The dialogue makes it very worthwhile.

Jack Nicholson does not use cue cards. He isn't Marlon Brando. The documentary even tells that he did all of his lines for each camera angle and nailed it every time. (Most actors say there lines to an unknown reader while the camera is on them.)

He is only in three scenes but they are all excellent. His introduction is awesome!

Check it out now!

I thought what I wrote was clearly humorous enough to be understood as nothing more than a jest. I'll be sure and overtly SPELL it out next time.

It's not a good blind buy. It's a GREAT blind buy. Watch out for a pre-ER Noah Wyle in there and Joshua Malina too. Shows how far back him(Malina) and Sorkin go.

What I found funny in the documentary about it was for someone who's able to churn out a lot of dialogue on paper, Sorkin sure goes "um...uh..." in live interviews. But I still love the guy's work.
