Complete box set of the Nightmare on Elm Street series, in perfect condition, for $40 from a pawn shop going out of business. Mind you, this was when the set was selling everywhere for well over $100!
Free copy of The Alien Legacy bonus disc from someone who just didn't want it anymore.

When a local shop here closed, on the last day he said anything I wanted was $1 used, $2 new. No real collectors items, but I did grab a few Criterion Charades and a all in all I grabbed well over 125 discs. I sold a bunch on eBay to get my money back and when I was done, I still had about 100 discs at no charge.

Scarface, This Is Spinal Tap, TFTC: Demon Knight, The Unbearable Lightness of Being: CC, Silence of the Lambs: CC are all oop discs I picked up used at a local used dvd store for around $15 a pop. I think someone sold thier collection without realizing what they had, because I haven't seen anything good there lately.

Two things:
Wal-Mart was having a sale on Armageddon, and all they had was the Criterion, so the guy was like, "Yeah that's the one on sale." So instead of paying $49.99 which is the price the sticker had I paid $17.99.
You know on Amazon when something is out of print and you want a copy of it you can click and say "In the future if a copy of this appears I would like to buy it" ... Well, that's how I got Pasolini's Canterbury Tales for $32. I haven't seen it for under $75 anywhere.

I too have scored at local shops with Criterions for $15 (SOTL, Robocop, The Rock, Rushmore, and Third Man). LOTR:EE for $19 at Target was nice as well. BUT NOTHING beats the Suncoast deal! X-Files Season 3 & 4 and the Cosmos box set for $16 each.
