How many Harry Palmer movies are on DVD?

I think just the Ipcress file but not sure. Although he might have returned to the character in the late 90s and done another movie.

Lol Punishark! That's why I clicked on the thread just by glancing at the title.

Not counting the TV movie Bullet to Beijing (which is on DVD), there are 2:

Funeral in Berlin
The Ipcress File

Billion Dollar Brain (1967) is not on DVD, nor is Midnight in St. Petersburg (1995) .

Ipcress File would make a great addition to my spy library. I read somewhere Deadlier Than The Male will be coming out soon.
(Edit): It's already out. I didn't realize!

I've been wondering about Billion Dollar Brain, would love to get my hands on it. I had not heard of the Midnight in St. Petersburg film until I had read this thread, will need to stop off at KMart to see if it's in the bargin bin...for 5.99 it's worth a shot.

I remember reading somewhere a while back that "Billion Dollar Brain" was held up from DVD release because of a sequence that uses a Beatles song -- some sort of music clearance/rights issue. Really a shame. I love "The Ipcress File" and "Funeral in Berlin" and would love to see the third film.

Both Bullet to Beijing and St. Petersberg were available
from Lion's Gate videobut are OOP now. I found them through Amazon for about $9.00 each. Transfer is soft as most early
transfers from Lions's Gate are.

The later sequels are awful. All you need are Ipcress, Funeral and Billion Dollar Brain. Hopefully the problems holding up the third will be resolved soon and a Sp Ed released.

I love THE IPCRESS FILE. Really fun commentary with the late great Peter Hunt and director Sidney Furie.

I wish I could have heard Michael Caine on the commentary as well. Has he recorded many commentaries if any? I always liked seeing him in interviews in addition to his great performances.

I've never seen BILLION DOLLAR BRAIN but always keep an eye out for word on its release.

"Bullet to Beijing" and "Midnight in St. Petersburg" are both TV movies, Anglo-Canadian-Russian co-productions. They're not bad, actually - if you like "Billion Dollar Brain", they're similar to it. You can see "TV production value" stamped all over them, though, and Jason Connery's performance is rather bad - the guy cannot act. But they're delightful in their portrayal of post-Communist Russia, and very smart - it takes repeated viewings to understand them fully, just like the older films were.

*edit* and by the way, here in Canada they are both available on DVD in Wal-Mart, as well as FutureShop (the local equivalent of Circuit City)... I also saw one of them in BestBuy, the other day...

Just a note for posterity:

I have both Funeral in Berlin and Ipcress File (love both of them). However, I was under the impression that Ipcress File was formally out of print.

I managed to order a copy from Amazon.ca, and the moment I did, the 'availability' note flipped from 'usually ships w/in 24 hours' to 'available w/in 2-3 weeks', suggesting that they only had one copy. I got mine in a couple of days.

However, afterwards I found a store in Toronto that appears to still have copies for sale. If anyone reading this post now or later has trouble obtaining Ipcress File, and is near T.O., I'd be glad to let you know where I saw it.

That's the same thing I thought when I looked fast at the title!
