ALI directors cut special edition?
I loved Ali, thought it didn't do as well as perdicted and some critics found it sub par. Needless to say, I was dissapointed at the bare bones dvd release of Ali, but I heard a SE was going into the works.
I usually check out the CARA website to find out what a movie is rated before the trailers and posters print it. I found this there:
Ali - Director's Cut (2003)
Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment
R Rated R for some language and brief violence.
**
Rated R for the same reasons as the original cut, but does this DIRECTORS CUT mean a SE dvd is on the way? Anyone hear anything about it?

DVD Talk Special Edition
Michael Mann usually doesn't participate in SE dvd's, the notable exceptions being Thief and the new Manhunter disc, where he contributed commentary tracks. Anything's possible, really, especially with Columbia Tristar holding rights to the film. They're notorious for double-dipping.
