Is there a way to force my WEGA to do a full degauss?

Sometimes when I turn my WEGA on, you hear the thwwwwwwump noise signaling that she's done a good job degaussing herself.

Lately, haven't heard that noise, and my lower left corner is turning green! I have no clue how long it may have been like that, as I don't watch cable, and my DVDs are usually widescreen, I only noticed it because I went to watch Family Guy tonite and was greeted by that :(

Try unplugging the TV for a few hours and see if it works then. This will reset the TV by cutting the power. You may need to do this over night... it varies from product to product as to the time frame involved.

What model do you have? Mine has a manual degauss in the setup menu. BTW, I have heard that the aperture grill on a WEGA is very fragile, and NOT to use an external degaussing coil on one.

I read recently the following:

With the TV off, press (and hold down) the power button on the TV for 15 seconds. This will turn on the TV and initiate the degauss. You'll hear/see when the deguass has taken place.

I bought mine I think the 2nd year they came out, I dont' even see an option, unless I'm retarded.

The green spot isn't always there, I turned it onl ast night, it was gone, tonite it's back.

It's annoying.

What have you got on that side of the TV? Speakers, and many other magnetic items will cause that problem also. Just a thought.

I moved everything. THe speakers are shielded and there is nothing different from how it was set up before and now.

I dont know what else to do.

Unshielded speakers will cause the green spot. Move them atleast 12-15" away or so, and all will be fine.

Did you recently move, or move the set to a new area? In my old apartment I couldn't have my TV in one corner becasue it was directly above the guy on the floor below's refrigerator.. aparently the motor caused enough magnetic interference to discolor my TV.
