Hmm.. hard to say. I haven't seen Jason X yet and that has Lexa Doig
And I can't really comment on Part 1 since it's not Jason doing all the killing.
I can say that Part 8 has to be the worst. To think that was Kelly Hu's first movie -ohbfrank-
Part 4 holds a special place just because Corey Feldman goes nutso. I mean of all people to kill Jason

I was going to say the same thing, and Crispin Glover's death scene is classic (with corkscrew and machete - ouch!)

I picked The Final Chapter. I've actually never seen The Final Chapter get beat in any "Favorite Fridy" poll I've seen. I think it's got the best of everthing about the series and Jason just rocks in this one. His death sequence at the end is so awesome and the rest of the kills were great. He used a machine operated tool as a killing device for the fist time in this one too. All around a good horror flick with Jason at the helm.

This poll is for people that like good movies. The words suck and Firday the 13th don't go in the same sentence. ;)

I picked number three since that's the first one I saw. I was too young to be watching and it scared the crap out of me. I've never seen another Friday the 13th movie all the way through.

I have to go with 7.. it was just the most enjoyable, and Tina was a cool character. And hey, Bernie Lomax gets killed again! ;)
Off the top of my head, I'd have to say my unofficial order of favorites would be:
7, 6, 8 (for nostalgia), 9, X, 2, 4, 1, 3, 5
And yes, I know my list is very off for typical Friday fans, but oh well. :p I've got them all on DVD and love them all!

I say 1, because it introduced us to Jason and it had a gritty feel to it.
2 is equal as good.
3 was okay, but was slow.
4 was, again, okay, Crispin Glover is the only knowable element to watch this.
5-yeah right.
6-wierd sense of deja vu.
7 is good, I like the telekintic stuff, cool effects, if odd.
8 is fun but too long, but I really like it.
9 is the most bashed Friday movie next to 5, but after rewatching a couple of times, I'd say its my third or fourth fav.
X is great, I think, really fun.

X was probably my fave - but I havent seen any of them in years, beyond part 9. I caught them on showtime when I was a kid, but not since. I cant wait for the special editions - IF they ever come out.
And . . . I find it funny that someone named after a really, really crappy John Woo film would be critical of a Friday the 13th movie.

There's a certain irony in someone who loves the Friday the 13th movies to be critical of other films.

X - One of the best comedies of last year.
II - The only one to make me jump.
IV - Crispin Glover.
VI - Very funny in places.
VIII - The first time I heard of "Jason Takes Manhattan," it was as a "brought to you by" tag on MTV's "Remote Control" and I thought it was a joke.
I - Overrated but still fun.
III - 3-D!!!!!
IX - A very bad "Hidden" ripoff with a very cool final shot.
VII - Don't know why everyone clamors for a director's cut - excess violence couldn't make this one any less dull.
V - Makes part VII look like Hitchcock at his best.
As you can see, I'm not as big a fan of this series as some of the others. Fun and goofily compelling in places, but it lacks the atmosphere of "Halloween" or the humor of "A Nightmare on Elm Street." Here's hoping that Freddy owns Jason.

Part II, like another post this one was the only one to make me jump.

But the reason I resurrected this thread was to see if anyone could answer my question.
Does Jason run in Part IV?
I am trying to end an argument between myself and a friend. He says Jason does not run. I say he does. The specific scene I am talking about is the final scene where Jason is going after Trish. I seem to remember that he is running (not racing to her, but rushing himself). I find it odd since Jason walks to his victims (or at the least runs off camera).
Thanks to anyone who can/will answer.

I wouldn't say he all out runs...more like a brisk jog.
And, by the way, Part 6 is my favorite one. It is the best directed and looking of the films (before the big budget X and FvJ) AND a neat Alice Cooper song.

I actually enjoyed all of the films except for the godawful Party 8 and Jason X..
They made Part 5 look like a masterpiece.

It's funny...as a teenager, I LOVED all these movies. I mean really enjoyed them. I'm only 21, so it wasn't too long ago. Now a few years passes, and I really don't like them. Especially Part X...man that was awful. I know this thread is about our favorite one.....So when I DID like them, part 3 and 4 were my favorites. I guess I grew out of the phase in which I liked them.

I enjoyed watching the movies when they came on tv when I was younger, but much like the Nightmare on Elm Street series, I can't really remember what happened in which one. They all kind of bleed together in my head, so I'm just going to say the one with Corey Haim<sp>.

My rankings, which change from time to time:
2 (Love the creepy atmosphere of the camp, plus I like the sack head look for Jason, plus my favorite opening of the series)
6 (Best balance of horror and humor, with better than average performances and cool Alice Cooper music)
7 (The most 'fun' Jason movie, with the climactic showdown)
1 (Great atmosphere like the 2nd, solid throughout)
3 (This is for the 3d version, the 2d version I'd put down below FvJ... seeing this in 3d for the first time this month, the stuff that was awful or goofy now seems pretty cool, and the gimmick works)
4 (Well made, with solid acting and characers you can actually tell apart, plus excellent kills and a great finale)
11 (FVJ) (As a Jason movie does a lot of stuff right, although the Freddy stuff needed a bit of work IMO)
5 (The new setting actually works, but there are a few too many unlikable characters. I like the mystery around Tommy - the lead - and the kills were still somewhat graphic at this point)
10 (Jason X) (I like the idea, and it mostly works, but the characters just don't fit the movie. Nice humor, though.)
8 (Full of good ideas, and several bad ones. The boat stuff is great, but the Manhattan stuff is just too silly. NOTHING is logical here.... characters run from a busy street to an abandoned alley! The dog treks halfway through the city to find them! And even jaded New Yorkers would pay attention to a huge masked zombie with a machete! Plus the awful child Jason subplot... yech.)
9 (Well made, with all around great acting and production values. But it commits the cardinal sin by trying to completely change genres - into a body swapping flick - and by coming up with a corny new backstory that ruins what's great about the character.)

He moves fairly quickly because he is still alive. From Part VI on, he walks slowly because he is essentially a zombie, brought back from the dead.
In Part VIII, he walks, but magically appears at a spot ahead of the kids running ahead of him, but there is a lot of stuff in VIII that doesn't make sense.

I always liked parts 4 and 6 the best. Part 4 had some of the more interesting characters of the series, and the humor and relative slickness of production in 6 helped bring the series up a bit after the incredibly cheesiness of part 5 imo.
Incidentally I like them all, I get different things from different films. All schlocky, all fun for different reasons.

My favorite = 6
2nd favorite = 4
But 3 is a lot of fun due in part to the now-missing 3-D effects. It's funny to see where the gratuitous 3-D stuff should be, but isn't. (Guy unloading rakes from the back of the truck right into the camera, etc.)
It's hard to not include the first on in the list as well.
