Sullivan's Travels Criterion
My wife and i are big Veronica Lake fans and i just saw "Sullivan's travels" CC and wondered if the disc is worth picking up. I did a search and just saw that it has a pretty good doc on it.

Get it, it is great, you will love it, I am not lying. The Lady Eve is also a good Sturges film available on DVD, no Veronica Lake but a great performance by Barbara Stanwyck.

i'll probably pick this one up tomorrow. Its the same store that ordered the 2 disc Battle Royale for me so hopefully i'll get two great discs in one trip.

Most of Preston Sturges's stuff, sadly, is not available on DVD. Sad that one of the first writer/directors and perpetrator of sophisticated, wacky, well-written comedies is so overlooked. I only stumbled across his stuff accidentally.
Watch Sturges's comedies and then rethink what make a funny movie.

Paramount is working on a release of The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1944), but no word on a release date.
As of a few months ago, Criterion didn't plan any further Sturges releases (I keep hoping that Criterion will release The Palm Beach Story--at the very least).
Universal owns most of the films: The Palm Beach Story (1942), The Great McGinty (1940), Hail the Conquering Hero (1944), and Christmas in July (1940). Since Universal is currently up for sale, I wouldn't expect to see these anytime soon.
I believe Fox owns Unfaithfully Yours (1948).
The Sturges Family maintains a good website http://www.prestonsturges.com, though it's not updated very regularly.
