Harrison Ford's Russian one was a little weak in K19: THe Widowmaker, to put it mildly.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in "Far and Away"

Their "oirish" accents were nothing short of embarassing - "Oh, begorrah, tee ti tay tay - oil go and get me soom potartos!"

Terrible.

Oh, and they mention Sean Connery in "The Untouchables" but I think you could vote for him in ANY MOVIE. I don't understand it - I guess he figures he's Sean Connery so he can do whatever he likes, but he doesn't even try!

For example - Hello, I'm Sean Connery in Robin Hood: Prince of Theives - I'm playing the King of England (don't mind that I'm Scottish...you'll be far too distracted by Kevin Costner's obviously AMERICAN accent)

Full Cast and Crew for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
Andrew Jack .... dialect coach (uncredited) - hah... no wonder!

Well, Sean Connery has always used the same accent -- whether he's playing a Russian (The Hunt for Red October), a Spaniard (Highlander) or an English spy (Dr. No).

I am astonished that I am the first person to mention Richard Gere's "always after me Lucky Charms" Irish accent in The Jackal.

the first thing that came to mind was Harrison Ford in K19

everyone keeps mentioning Kevin Costner for Robin Hood, but I don't remember many actors having an accent in it (it has been over 5 years though, I might be wrong), so whats the big deal

I also agree with Richard Gere in the Jackel, he layed it on pretty thick

Kirk Cameron in Listen To Me. If you've never seen this performance, consider yourself blessed.

I'll second Kevin Costner in Thirteen Days. A very good film that could've been great had anyone else been cast in that role.

Agreed. He has a better New Orleans accent than a Boston one.

I'm not sure why they rag on Sean Connery.

And that guy in the Usual Suspects. I know they used a non-Japanese guy to play someone named Kobayashi. I forgot if that had to do with the storyline.

Kobayashi wasn't meant to be Japanese.

That's the point; he's supposed to be playing an Englishmen, yet he talks with a distinctly American accent; hence the joke in MIT "Unlike other Robin Hoods, i can speak with an English accent".

Allow me to pile on here, just totally laughable, and I don't take any list seriously that doesn't have it on there.

9. Pete Postlethwaite in The Usual Suspects (1995)
That's one of the COOLEST accents I've ever heard, and in my opinion, just makes it a better movie just for being there. He had me guessing HIS backstory half the time as to how and why a guy named Kobayashi speaks like that and is "Mis-ta Soh-zay's" right hand man. Double B.S. to their crappy list.

He had an accent??

I also will add Mr. Costner and his wonderful "American Robin Hood" accent. Hell, even Christian Slater had an english accent!!

Speaking of Robin Hood, isnt Alan Rickman the best Sheriff ever? He's comic gold, too bad he couldnt get his own sitcom.

"The Adventures of Sheriff of Nottingham" each week the sheriff gets frustrated as his bumbling henchmen fail to catch the American Robin of Locksley.

Exactly. The sad part is that he didn't even try a British accent.

His accent was painful to listen to.
Heather Graham's cockney accent in From Hell was also just plain awful.
