Any way to post a .WAV short sound clip?

I don't mean post it so that when someone opens the thread the sound starts up, like the same way a picture appears. (although that would be kinda cool) I guess I mean post a link for a .wav clip.
But where would you host such a file in order to post the link for it?

(If any of this is even possible or if I am making any amount of sense whatsoever)

I guess you have it on your hard drive, huh? If you can find it anywhere "on the Internet," you could just post the URL (http://_______________) and people could open it or save it to their hard drives.

Hmm... how could I set up a sound clip so that it activates every time somebody opens the thread? I was thinking of a .wav of a scream.

Embedded sound files that play (without clicking) when someone opened a thread here would be regarded as antisocial and probably be against board rules.

I know this because I did it once myself several years ago! Fortunately I had stayed online and was able to edit very quickly on reading the first complaint!

For obvious reasons I won't say how/what I did back then.

Right. Exactly. I neglected to mention that I have the clips saved on the hard drive.
I have a site where I can host .jpgs and .gifs, but where can I upload .wavs to?

A well deserved one, too.

When you're thinking of doing something on the forum, ask yourself if it will help or hurt other posters. If it is going to hurt other posters, you probably ought not do it.

And they should suspend all web designers that use sound without asking first.

What do imbedded odors = ?

If trees could scream, would we still cut them down?
Maybe, if they screamed all of the time, for no apparent reason. - Jack Handy

I did this before on the web board for Angrynakedpat.com, back when they allowed html code in their posts. It was a Unicron Statuette thread, so I embedded the sound file "I have summoned you here for a purpose..."

Well, it scared the living daylights out of a couple of people (my favourite reply - "Um... yes, Satan?"), and was a neat trick. The problem was that no-one cut the text of the message when replying... so it would play on every reply message too, which got old quick.

SO whoever's thinking about embedding a file... trust me, it's not worth it.

Thing about the poor souls sneaking onto this site at work, too - do you want their boss to hear the Thundercats theme out of nowhere?

(That'd be cool, though...)
