Terminator 3 - Box Office Predictions

It probably would have been nice to have these for each of the big summer blockbusters, like Matrix Reloaded, Hulk, Finding Nemo, and Charlie's Angels, so i figure i'll start now and make it a weekly thing for all the upcoming releases beginning with T3. T3 is a little hard to gauge because of the Wednesday opening, so to make things interesting we'll go with the Wednesday - Sunday take, but post predictions for both the opening day and the weekend if you're bored

My own prediction for Wed - Sun, 85 million

Edit: I'll update it with box office takes after each day

And heck, you know what since i'm really bored i'll make the prediction game since we didn't get a whole lot of replies to the Summer Movie prediction thread. Post your responses, and for each movie i'll tally whose + or - and add them up with updates for each new poll per movie.

It's gotta make at least $80 million from Wed-Sun.

I'll say $87 million, whatever.

I refuse to play this game!!

That said, let me say that I see T3 doing huge numbers this weekend and then tapering off like everything else does/did. Legally Blonde 2 will be the ulitmate source of counter programming as well IMO, and should have a healthy take.

Yeah - Legally Blonde 2 will rock the box office I'm sure - really heavy marketing push and a well selected opening date. T3 will do alot right away and then drop off quickly.

I picked 30-39 but now wish I had picked 40-49. Though the Terminator franchise appears to be strong nothing is infallible. Perhaps the 10+ year break between sequels will help it though. Only a few years between Charlie's Angels movies and the 2nd one opened way lower than expected.

Legally Blonde 2 will pick up numbers solely on women telling their boyfriends / husbands "OK, I went and saw the stupid Terminator with you, now you have to take me to see this."

Terminator might have enough punch in it to have a strong second week as well, but who knows. The plot will be full of holes, but people aren't going for the plot, they're going for the mayhem and carnage.

I'm really hoping T3 will both be a great movie and rake in some box office this week...I have been SO disappointed with this summer's movies. Aside from Finding Nemo, not a real winner in the whole bunch! Oh well, there's always Seabiscuit...

I am going to stick with my predictions from last year at this time when the first T3 teaser hit theaters, this will probably top out at $150 million in ticket sales and kill the franchise for a good long time.

the previews don't look that good. Arnold looks old (WTF are they think having him next to/lifting a coffin)
and the chick is not really that hot.
I will say $45 million tops especially for a Rated R movie.

A quick search on Goggle...must of the review were very positive.

T2 is what I judge all Sci-Fi movies by, so I hope it can atleast approach the greatness of T2.

And the gross for Tuesday is... $4,035,405

Second behind Angels, but not too shabby considering the late showings, and apparently lack of people knowing about the late showings.

Is this going to be another Perfect Storm/Patriot....everyone takes home something but nobody blows the roof off the joint.

I get the Tuesday night totals, I consider myself plugged into the movie scene and I only found out about the Tuesday screenings on Sunday.

I don't think it will top $90m - but will probably come close.
