Some good indian music
Wanted to know about some pretty interesting sounding Indian music. I'm really talking about the beat and the instrument sound
and so forth that are sort of like how Punjabi MC sounding. any good recomendations?

My fiancee and her sister listen to some of that stuff. They seem to like the soundtracks which are probably not exactly what you're looking for... soundtracks such as: Devdas, Lagaan, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
Also check out the soundtrack for Bend it Like Beckham.

Someone on amazon suggested this in addition to Bend it Like Beckham
Bhangra Beats
It's got the Indian sound mixed with some more contemporary music.

Check out stuff by Indian artist Bally Sagoo, also I'd recommend several Soundtracks of Indian movies which all feature numerous musical numbers (e.g. from "Happiness and Tears" - you'll see where Panjabi MC gets his inspiration from) as well as the various "Bollywood" compilations available.

I'd recommend checking out Claude Challe, especially his Buddha Bar CD's. They have music from all over. BUT with specific reference to what you are looking for check out:
Karunesh (download solitude and you will be sold-it's excellent).
There is another that comes to mind but I have no idea how to spell his name.
