Most disappointing album of 2003 . . . thus far

To repost.
Live- Birds of Pray.
Not horrible, but it's definitely my least favorite live album. It's just bland, with most of the songs sounding more or less the same. It lacks the heavier songs like "Stage," "Lakini's Juice" etc. and the pretty ballads like "Overcome." It's basically just the in between type songs which while good, make for a bland album when that's all you get.

I nominate Massive Attack's 100th Window. I was really looking forward to this too! This year has been full of releases, at least for me, that took many listens to warm up to. Massive Attack's latest just leaves me cold after repeated listens. The "hidden" track I could have done myself. Throw on a loop and record it for ten minutes. It's so pretentious and amateurish at the same time, it's incredulous considering their previous releases.

Jewel - 0304 and I will raise you a King's X - Black Like Sunday...while not horrible it is definitely a dissapointment. Not nearly as good as their older works.

What a waste... not even worth the the time it took me to listen to it. James and company really f-yucked this one up!
Metallica hasn't put out a decent album in 10+ years. I'm so glad that I haven't purhased one of their CDs since "Justice".

Gotta agree with Jewel's new one being craptacular..
But the winner HANDS DOWN [so far] is Madonna's "American Life". The only thing this album succeeded in doing is making me listen to the far superior "Music" again.*
* The only reason for this comparison, is that practically all of "American Life" sounds like the bastard stepchild of the worst parts of "Music".

Weird Al's new CD. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's somewhat dissapointing based on the high expectations I always have for him & his work.
Of course, this only includes CDs that I've heard, so I can't comment on any of the above releases.

Blur - Think Tank
However, on the bright side - with each subsequent new album "Blur" manages to make you appreciate their previous album (that you used to think was crap) a lot more.
I know there's a better way of saying that
In other words - I was really dissapointed with their self titled Great Escape follow-up... now it looks like a classic! (which, it probably is...)
Maybe Think Tank will seem a lot better, two albums from now.
However, on the bright side - with each subsequent new album "Blur" manages to make you appreciate their previous album (that you used to think was crap) a lot more.

I'm going to really go out on a limb and say Jewel's new album, although I haven't heard the entire thing. "Intuition" is enough of a sample for me to know it's not the same old Jewel I've always known.
But there's always the new Pete Yorn cd, Day I Forgot. And you wonder why it was released for a mere $6.99 at your local Circuit City. It's because it's a true yawn-fest. ick.

For me, it has to be Underworld's "One Hundred Days Off", 1 great song, and 2 good ones , the rest very bland, one is extremely grating that I want to chuck the cd out everytime I reach to skip it.

So far, St. Anger for me too.
I can't even think of anything else. All the other albums mentioned here, I wouldn't have considered buying anyway...
I'm really looking forward to the new Thrice album, I hope I don't have to add it to my list here -- though based on 2 songs I've heard it looks to be good.
